Default Under hood fuse box removal

Ok, so a few weeks ago my journey starts doing a slow start. The alternator and battery have been replaced several months ago. The husband moves around the under hood fuse box and wiggles some other things and suddenly I have a strong start again.

Today it did it again, only worse. I had one slow start, then nothing the next time around. Also, burning wire smell from under the fuse box under the hood. I was trying to remove it so I could inspect underneath but was having issues getting it out of the box the fuse box sits in. I also can’t find any videos on how to remove it on the journey specifically.

basically, how do you get the fuse box out of the box it sits in? I’ve lifted both levers and tried to work it out but it’s not even budging.

2013 dodge journey sxt 3.6.

Leave the TIPM fuse box module for now. Slow starts are probably large ground or power connections need to be cleaned up.

The driver side strut tower has ground connections. Clean them up with sand paper first. Then put a thin film of dielectric grease on them during reassembly. A 10 mm wrench can be used to unbolt the grounds.

The battery is in the fender and there is a remote ground and power connection under hood for jump starting. These connections should also be cleaned. Cleaning power connections is more tricky. You have to be careful to not ground out positive connections. You will get a huge spark and battery can explode from hydrogen gas inside. (rare but possible with bad luck). You can not touch a wrench from a position connection and the body of the car. The body is negative and it will create a spark and power flow. Need to do some research.

Thank you! I’ll certainly have to research this more. The hubs already told me not to mess with the fuse box yet. He said pretty much the same thing as you did but not as detailed. It gives me hope because I really REALLY didn’t want to go that route unless I have to.
