2016 Dodge Journey Battery Issues
I purchased my 2016 Dodge Journey over 4 1/2 yrs ago. The vehicle was fine for a few years. I got the vehicle checked to see if their were any electrical issues, and wasn't. I had recalls done on it, and my radio replaced, Now. my radio comes on when it wants to, and my batteries die overnight. I have to jump the car at least three times a week with my portable charger. I am not sure what seems to be the issues. At times, my car will sit for 4 days and starts ready up. Finally, when it gets cold outside I have to jump it. What seems to be the issue? Could it be the fuse?
How old is the battery? Had it load tested?? You may also have a parasitic draw.... but, if that were the case, it would not be weather dependent, and it wouldn't last four days either..... Is the alternator charging the battery??
The two batteries are two years old. I did have the batteries tested. At times. I don't have to jump it at all for a few weeks, then I would need to. The alternator is fine. I believe it is a parasite. How can you tell? Is it by checking the fuses?
What two batteries. The fob remote or the larger lead acid main battery that powers car?
The most common parasitic load is a faulty blue tooth module. It keeps dash powered up and kills battery over night. The fuse is located in the passenger side kick panel fuse box. It’s called hands free module I think, so HFM module fuse which includes steering wheel controls.
Its hard to get at inside dash and very pricy dealer part to have changed. Pulling fuse is good temp fix.
Could also check glove box light, make sure nothing plugged into one of charging outlets in car.
