In 2019, I purchased a 2017 dodge journey. Shortly after purchase the check engine light came on. Ran code P0420 catalyst below threshold bank 1. I determined it was either the catalytic converter went out or bad O2 sensors. So being lazy I left the issue alone thinking it was just going to mess with my gas mileage and my county does not do emissions testing for new tabs and registration.
Fast for tona couple of weeks ago, the battery completely dies, I replace the battery with a new one. Now I have different set of codes to deal with. This time the engine wont go above 4000 rpm, shows the lightening bolt light and the traction control light are on but no check engine ligh. After some time those lights turn off and the check engine light comes back on.
Yesterday, I finally replace the O2 sensors and the above issue is still there. The car feels like it might be limp mode but unsure. I have tried to clear all the codes on the car but it has now added a TCM code.
I am completely stumped, tempted to cut the catalytic converter off the journey until i can get a new one ordered. But what other issues can I expect to have if I cut the cat off? other than loud noise, heavy gas consumption, engine light being on. Bad O2 sensor
