Long open road fuel mileage SXT vs RT
Hi
I have an SXT and do 2000 to 4000 miles a month highway driving, and get 26 mpg heading back from MI to WI. Heading out of WI on blended fuel I get 22 mpg at best 24 mpg. Pretty much on cruise control for hours at a time.
I'm thinking of getting an RT, has anyone measured the real highway mpg of the RT when it's running on 4 cylinders on long trips?
Thanks
Phil

PXTaylor,
The best I got in my RT from Orange County to Las Vegas was 28 MPG. Now that is based on the Computer, which I have read is not accurate and that the actual mileage is slightly higher than the computer states. (this is good, as it allows me to drive for about 5 to 10 miles while on Empty) So, if I tracked my mileage as actual gallons poured and actual miles driven, I am assuming the Maximum MPG would be more than the 28 MPG stated on the computer display. Now, at the same time I got as low as 9 MPG on the same trip with the Hemi. MPG all depends on your driving habits...

PXTaylor,
I just took a trip from NC to PA on I-95 in June. We drove with the A/C running and it was pretty warm for the whole trip. The total trip was about 1400 miles.According to the car, my averagewas right at 24 mpg. I used cruise the whole way but did gun it hard afew times to get around the slowpokes and hit a few spots of construction traffic. I love the mpg on the highway with my 2005 R/T. And whenyou are running at 80 mph along I-95 and need to punch it, that HEMI really kicks in and feels like it has a lot more under the hood to get you over 100 mph before you know it.
