Default New Magnum owner

I recently bought a 2005 R/T. The Magnum was the only newer car to really get my attention, or at least practical car to get my attention. Its the Inferno Red with everything but Sirius and Navigation. I miss the 27-28 mpg on my Concorde, as the Magnum got 21.5 at 74 mph all highway, butIm all smiles whenI throttle down.

Two questions though. Any ideas on getting the fuel mileage up and do the Eibach Pro-kit springs make alot of difference on these cars? I have a set on my Spirit R/T and it was night and day.

I bought it for 17,700 which was a reasonable price I think, my local dealer hasnt had a Hemi Magnum yet, so I went got this one in TX when I was visiting family. I went to see a movie and as I was on the access road to the Interstate it called out to me, so I stopped in. The previous owner traded it 2 hours before I bought it, so it was still warm. If the 5-star dealer (McKinney Dodge),wasnt so dishonest about the deal, it would have been a great experience.

Hey Wallace, Welcome to the Magnum side of the forum. Also congrats on your puchase.

As far as the eibach prokit, I put them on mine and I love it. The ride is a little stiffer and noticible on the bumpier roads but it does seem to handle better.
The most noticable upside is the look tho (IMO). It looks 1000% better than stock, much more aggressive and adds alittle more "beef".

As far as gas mileage, I got about a 1-2 mpg increase with my aftermarket intake and exhaust.
The biggest way to affect your mileage is obviously how you drive. It's kinda hard to lay off of the hemi tho.
Little things (or tricks) of coarse is using the cruise control whenever possible.
Also my little trick that I do to keep me alittle more honest (2 speeding tickest so far) is I adjust my seat and/or pedals to where IfI want to get on it I have to almost tip toe to depress the gas pedal.

...well that's my take. ...Enjoy the Ride!

I assume you went with the K&N CAI? Is this better than the K&N drop in, as they both pull air from the same place?

What fuel economy are most getting on the highway? I spoke to the 1st owner and he put some flowmasters on it and he said it help economy, it sounds good except for 2200-2500 rpm it has a exahust drone.

I understand about getting a ticket, Im used to my Spirit R/T, that little box is wicked fast (11.68 1/4 mile), the Magnum is alot more subtle in its speed, you dont feel like your going as fast as you are. I do love this car. I think the front window tint, Eibachs and some Hawk pads(awesome), will be the next things.

I have the K&N G-2 CAI. in my trucks and i think that the CAI is better then the drop in.
But that's just me.

Welcome to the family, you will get plenty of information on the various Forums dedicated to the LX platform cars.

Your suspension question is common and the best thing is to search the forums for all types of ideas. One recurring theme with the lowering springs kits is that you will prematurely wear out your shocks so be prepared to swap or upgrade sooner than stock. A number of folks have gone full swap with sways, coilovers, and springs in order to eliminate this weak link in lowering.

Intake side, I would surely go for a full CAI instead of a drop in K/N. Speaking of which do some research on this as well, you will find there are a number of other CAI's that perform equally as well or better than the K/N. I personally like the AirAid kit. I swapped out the K/N and my seat of the pants reaction to WOT (wide open throttle) was quicker accelleration and a 1-2 mpg increase.

Enjoy it just keeps getting better. SEE MY TOY.....LOL

I've got the Air raid in mine and I tell you, you hit passing gear or drop down a coupleand man it just roars (well with the help of the big fat Magnaflow pipes) and it's just sweet sweet music.

Man Strykker...I like your 2 tone better than the stock Dodge...not to mention the colour...but the way it only comes to the roof, not past the door handles on the Dodge painted 2 toner.

Thanks for the compliment, my painter gets all the credit for pulling this look off. I just dropped the car off and said I want to keep the Red as the dominant color. He came up with the rest and did this:
