hitch install, whose done it?
is it hard to install a hitch? im thinking of buying a boat and my rt has the tow pakage, but i dont see the hich, i think i have to do that part. is it expensive?
If you have the tow package I do believe you should have the hidden hitch under the rear fascia. If you have the load leveling shocks, then it should be there. Check there first. If not I would find out why not.
For those who are wondering, the MOPAR hidden hitch kit is fairly easy to install just follow the instructions and double check everything.

Actually, the tow package doesn't come with a hitch. It's just load leveling shocks and a transmission cooler. I just had the Mopar hitch installed at the dealer. From what I understand, it requires a bit of work (including removing the exhaust) to get installed... so I decided to let the dealer do it.
I paid dealer $55 for the install. I think you just remove the rear exhaust hangers to lower it a bit to get the hitch in there. I just thought it was worth the cost for aggravation alone, it looks pretty tight in there!.
Thanks for the correction, I didn't know you had to buy the hitch in addition. That is kind of odd though to sell the package and option the actual hitch itself. My buddy must of got lucky he got it all together.

No worries, Strykker. I was just glad to have something useful to add to the discussion rather than my usual lurking.
I was surprised to find out that the tow package didn't include the hitch when I ordered my Magnum, but that's how it comes from the factory. I thought it was pretty lame that it didn't have one installed as part of the package. I guess some people really like the other style where the entire hitch is visible under the bumper, as I see those on the road on occasion. I prefer the hidden Mopar version... makesmy wagon look good when not towing... ifthat dude in the minivan didn't back into my car last night, that is. [sm=smiley21.gif]

55 for labor alone? and when its installed you cant see it? can we see some pics. last question anyone ells towing a boat under20ft can the magnum handle that pretty good?
What is the weight and tongue weight of your boat/trailer?
The MagnumR/Tis rated to tow up to 3800 lbs with the tow package. Without the tow package, the Magnum R/T is rated to tow 2000 lbs.
With the upswept hitch attachment for the Mopar hidden hitch (Part #82208642), the tongue weight is only 200 lbs.
With the other style of hitch attachment for the Mopar hidden hitch (Part #82208643), the tongue weight is 380lbs... assuming you have the tow package... without that, it's 200 lbs no matter what.
If you need more than that tongue weight, you'll probably have to look into other options.
Just an FYI: This is all information from the official Mopar/Dodge websites and brochures. I hooked up my 5x8 trailer with an ATV on it to check it out, but haven't reallyhad the chance to use it much yet.
