re;alarm and alignment sxt
hi total newbie, just trying to get some info. ours is a sxt, it was the most practical car we could find, bought by specs, warrenty, price, the look was a nice bonus. but... reading thru the forum...it's not a hemi, it's silver(old man is a construction worker, it gets filthy fast) it's the family car. not to say we don't love it. anyway, the alarm won't set and the steering wheel is off center, it's going to the dealership this week after arguing with service that it wasn't inspected and yes, i have read the owners manual more than once. just wondering if anyone else has had similiar issues? i have only seen two others on the road and the old man three or four. the sales guy knows less about the car than i do and service treats me like i'm a total moron, that's if i can get them on the phone. thanks from wa.

Sorry to hear y0ou are having problems. I, too, have a silver SXT but have had zero problems with it, discounting the alignment issues that were resolved early on. My dealership here in Texas is a 5star dealership and have had no problems with service from them. If you have problems with them, I would recommend calling Daimler Chrysler directly and filing a comlpaint if necessary. Let us know if your dealership gives you any better service in the future and what the outcome is of your present situation.
GOOD LUCK!!

Steering wheel being off center is a common and easy to fix concern. What do you mean the alarm won't set? Are you sure it has one, all LX's use the same keys but not all have the same anti-theft system? Things like horn chirp (if equipped) are customer prefernce features that can be turned on/off. Be clear on exactly what is happening or not happening and when the symptom is occuring.

RE: re;alarm and alignment sxt
thanks alot, guess the alignment isn't going to be a big deal. the alarm.... understanding all models are not equipt, but we have the dash light and the sticker states it has one. the sale was beyond goofy, we needed a car asap.the old man is a construction worker, the job sites, up to 150 miles one way. some sunday's are free. i ordered a se, better by specs than any thing else in our price range, ie focus, vibe, matrix. we are really tall and he carries mass equiptment. we called the dealer on a sunday said we were on our way, the sxt was our demo. dumbass, the day before the se arrived backed into a stack of rebar. (there is a dodge sticker over the hole) next day i went to the dealer and put the rest of the down on the sxt. point being, the car was 90 miles from the dealer when it should have been going thru it's pdi. the chip in the key may not have been programed to set the alarm(my theory)but i just don't know. the dealer service department is obnoxious and more info i have the more they back down. it is a 5star dealer, the sales guy is great....the service department sucks. we live 45 miles from the dealer and in the everett vs bellevue on the reality of blue collar, is like trying to explain existentialism to a frat boy. seriously, the service departments solution is to sent me and my 3 year old spawn of destruction to the most pretentious mall in the state for a day of shopping. wehaw, i'm 6ft tall, wear carharrts and shop at ghetto warehouse outlets in order to afford the credit score. (sorry for venting). our other running vehicles are a motorcycle and a badass 73 f-205 gas sucking pig. i'm too cheap to spend the money to fill the tanks on the truck just to make the service department life easier. they've now agreed to give me a loaner, do the inspection, fix the problems, detail the car and fill the tank. none of this is on the salesperson, he's done nothing but go to bat for me. thank you for the for the feed back.p.s. in defense of the sxt, it replaced a $250 dodge colt that had no front end and 'montana deer killer' written on the hood. 26,000 miles with not one breakdown, i loved the thing as much as i hated it. it was too small to be comfortable, did not vent and tended to be about 110' inside during the summer. when he finally passed on, i cried and kept him in the garage for 6 months trying to save him. when the tow truck came, i lost it. but in relative terms a sxt can't be any thing other than a quantum leap as far as an upgrade. and the old man now lets me drive the truck without squawking too much.

Hmm, alarm situation intriguing, the chip key either works or it won’t run. When you press the lock button and all the doors lock (they do lock correct) does the light in the dash blink?
Another thought, you mentioned PDI, if it wasn't done its possible the IOD wasn’t plugged in which will prevent the door locks (among other things like the radio) from working. Please post findings, I'm curious.
Yes, the alignment is fairly straight forward, the one hitch may be if it needs camber/caster bolts. A lot of dealers don’t stock them which means an order a delay in the repairs.
They are great cars, you should be very happy with your choice.

the car is outstanding....the problems are too minor to detract from it's pluses. the alarm light comes on as you exit, but when following the proceedure to set it.... nothing. i've had a tech on the phone while messing with it. when i stated proceedure verbatim is when they finally accepted that it might not be operator error. i'll post the result, i tend to get better service in person. my voice belongs to some 5'2 110lb bimbo, in person most guys think i'd kick their *** if they pissed me off.

Dealer response to right pull on Magnum RT:
"This is present on all Magnums, it cannot be corrected with alignment, one of our techs adjusted his alignment for 2 weeks, still pulls right." " A camber kit is being sent to the dealers to correct the right pull issue." It will be installed at no charge, and an alignemnt will follow at no charge when the kit is available."
The pull is manageable, just hang with it until they can correct it!

I agree with you, MikeEast,
I will try and be patient and let them resolve it. No sense in getting too pissy with the dealer yet. They also did not correct the Boston Acoustics balance problem (no left channel intermitently) and the terrible rattle in the right rear speaker when any bass is applied. They just ordered a new speaker, probably just a loose grille! I'll give these neophites another chance when the parts come in. (including camber kit)
Must be patient one more time!
