Ah, well, you got me there. I didn't take into account the MDS. [:@] Thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks! I knew someone would shed some real knowledge into this one!
I'm sticking with 5W20, and maybe finding a mechanic I can trust to work on my RT. The dealer uses 10W30 because it is cheaper and they are ignorant of what the vehicle requires. Unless I see them pour it in myself, I would never trust them!
Off to go slip around a little in the rain!

Just an update with my repair issues...Surroz Motors got it right!
I was able to finally convince the GM that there was an issue
with their previous work. They must have agreed....I got the
car back....all the overspray taken care of....sunroof replaced,
since the glass was warped.

As far as my first oil change....I went with Mobil 1 0w20 1700
miles ago....and all is fine.

Use AMSOIL, they're the best.

At first I thought it was okay to use 10w30 oil in the RT, that is the oil of choice down here in Florida.

But after reading about the MDS, namely the special valve lifters, it is best to insist on 5w20 oil as recommended.

Seems they use special lifters to shutoff the four cylenders, and the clearances are very close in those lifters.
