highway i've seen the average mpg as high at 28, but when i've actually figured out my mpg, i got about 22-23 mpg going about 70 mph on the highway for about 200 miles. around town it's definatly lower. 200 miles, i use roughly a quarter tank of fuel from full

Everybody, please be aware that the responses to questions about MPG are dependent on quite a few factors, and if you leave any one of them out your response is not very useful. The main items you should include are, of course, which engine and drivetrain are you using? The 5.7 and 3.5 are likely to be very different in economy (despite what the EPA says, one reason I am asking for this feedback is because I don't trust their numbers at all anymore). Also, AWD vs. RWD will have anoticeable effect. For "city" driving, all bets are off as nobody can easily describe the area they drive or the way they drive. What I am most interested in is the highway mileage. Again, that is affected GREATLY by how fast you drive. If you regularly drive exclusively highway (or have measured it during trips), on relatively flat terrain (i.e. not thru mountains) and you go a specific speed the whole trip, I'd like some feedback. Ideally I would know how others' AWD cars perform at 65, 70, and/or 75mph highway trips at constant speed. I drive a 5.7L AWD and want to know (1) is mine performingworse than it "should", and (2), how does the 3.5L car perform on fuel economy? My 18-19mpg at ~75mph is nothing to brag about and if I can get, say, 22mpg or better with a 3.5L I'd probably consider the smaller one. Not being a true musclecar fanatic, I don't really *need* Hemi power but only went for it because our trusty EPA said it would be just as economical (or very very close to the 3.5L).

To summarize, f you don't provide at leastALL the following info, your response doesn't really help me much:
- engine size
- AWD or RWD
- how fast you drive on highway

(this goes for every automobile discussion forum!)

My 05 RT AWD gets between 15 and 18. I drive 80% freeway at a cruise-set 73 mph for my 35 mile morning commute to work. Just this weekend Itook a 200 mile trip and w/ a sustained 80 mph with blasts to 100 to get around the left-lane hogs, andI got 15.59mpg.This is figured from the fuel slips, I fillup every time w/ Shell premium only. Around here they just went to a 10% ethanol blend for the87 octane regular. I asked the manager and she said that the mid-grade is a blend of premium and regular, so the mid grade has some ethanol in it also. My Honda Accord V6 ran better on Shell premium, but am unsure on how much better it is for my hearse.

My 05 R/T AWD is getting between 18-20 mpg, based on a 80/20 mix of highway/city driving. On the highway, I generally cruise between 60/65 mph, and in town, I try to remain light on the throttle (though not always easy, knowing what you've got under the hood!).

Put succinctly, my R/T, with its 340 hp HEMI gets as good gas mileage as our Mazda MPV minivan with a 2.5 V6. Make of that what you will.
