Default Temperature Gauge?

I just noticed that my temperature gauge stays all the way to the left (cold range)
even when my engine is up to temperature (normal). My engine is not over heating and the heat and air conditioning work fine.
Is there a fuse or do I just have adefective temperature gauge? Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,
David

Can only guess at bad sensor or gauge, looks like a trip to the dealer. You don't want to not have this working if it does start running hot someday.

My warranty ran out last month, so I'm trying to determine if it is the gauge. If it is I might try replacing it myself.

Did you try the instrument cluster test by holding down the trip botton while turning on the ignition. It would appear that if the guage moved, you might have a bad sensor. If you have already fixed it, Iwould like to know how you fixed it.

dodger05,

Thanks for the reply and info. I did the "instrument cluster test " and the temperature gauge did not move. I guess this means I either have a bad gauge or a disconnected cable. I'll take a look at the connection to the gauge and to the sensor. I'll post what I find. Hey! I want to thank you for the info on how to test the instrument cluster. I about gave up on getting any real help. Don't get me wrong the others that posted here tried to help but if I were under warranty I'd already have taken it to the dealer to have it fixed.

Thanks again for your help!
David

since you're not getting any codes from a bad sensor, i would say it is the gauge itself.

Thermostat is most likey you culprit. There isa rubber o-ring which breaks down over time a lets coolant past the stat before engine is warmed up. Not under warranty they wanted $280 to fix. Bought a $40 stat and did this myself.
