Turn signal issue with towing harness
9X out of 10 when their is an electrical problem only with a trailer hooked up, the problem is in trailer wiring. I have seen a few trucks that wouldn't flash one side of turn signals. There are seperate fuses for the trailer lights and most guys who haven't dealt with them yet won't know about them. Get a test light and check EVERY fuse in the car (and under the hood), sometimes fuses that don't seem to have any connection to the system you have a problem with can cause issues.
The problem is not with the trailer. I have rewired the trailer because that is what I thought as well. I then hooked the trailer up to three different vehicles. Everything works fine. The computer on my RT is sensing a problem (too much amperage draw I believe) and then shutting the system down.
As it turns out, the dealer installed an after-market converter/harness and that is most likely the problem. I should mention that this is the second one of those that they have installed. The first one was defective. As long as there is only one light on the flasher circuit everything works fine. If there is more than one light it craps out. I insisted that the dealer get me the Magnum wiring harness (82208926). That should be in tomorrow. I will let you know the result. Thanks for your response.

Get a power module that isolates the car from the trailer. Power modules take power from the battery directly and use the taps from the brake lamps and signal lamps as pilot signals only. The true amperage draw for the trailer lights comes from the tow vehicle's battery. How convenient that our batteries are in the trunk - it makes hooking one of these up easy.
Both Reese ( part # 85265) and Draw Tite (part # 18130 or #18175) make isolating power modules or "taillight converters as Draw Tite calls them. The regular euro lamp to flat four adaptors won't cut it.

I installed the factory harness. It was very straight forward and it is also a very neat installation. Unfortunately that did not solve the issue either. I was under the impression that the harness designed for this car would isolate everything from the system. It has leads that hook directly to the battery. I am going to try replacing the stock flasher module with a heavy duty one. If that does not take care of the problem, I will do what you suggest. I will let you know.
The factory harness did not solve the issue. For this past winter I just unhooked a tail light on each side of the trailer and ran with just one on each side. I don't know what I am going to do, probably live with it.
