In the US? Well, what kind of car wax do you use?
Hahahahaha. Actually i think it's become more like that over time. Ricers are the perfect example of this. It's more important to make a visual statement than one of performance.

Historically Dodge has had some companies that produce parts to eke out some extra horsepower but they rarely if ever went as far as whole car tuners.
What part of that did I miss? For me, I don't really care about the top speed of a car, and in fact I even the Germans can't use the full potential of some of the supercars on any road. How often do you think they can get their F1 up to 240mph on the autobahn? Never.

Your point above is not true, American tuners (whole car tuners) upgrade the entire car and some make north of 1000hp. The best American tuners make cars faster than any European tuner. That is a fact, have a look at the roundup of the various tuner cars in Car and Driver.

For me, and I think for many other drivers, it's all about acceleration and handling.

That is just stupid. It's like saying Ayrton Sena was a bad driver because he was killed in a crash. Accidents happen.

Point was that John Lingenfelter made the fastest street legal cars in the world.

And that is the point. In Germany if you spin the tires at a stoplight people look at you like you're crazy (actually immature and wasteful) but drive at top speed - then you're having fun or in a hurry. In the US if you spin the tires at a stoplight people think you're just having fun but drive 66MPH and you must be crazy. See the different culture?

Yes, I see the difference. However, my point was that even the Germans don't drive cars at their max potential. . I have seen tuned cars that actually have a lower top speed but much better acceleration (usually due to tranny or gear fixes).

Regardless, the culture here is definitely different than in Europe. Fact is the Germans are, for the most part, much better drivers.

" I have buddies at DCX, and they told me that the magnum SRT8 is a go, but the launch date is undetermined "

According to www.dodgemagnum.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4401 which was posted 1/5/5, "Introduction Date Mid 2005 as 2006 model"!!

The new styling is nothing revolutionary, but it appears otherwise to be a completely upgraded high performance package, not just a bigger engine!!
