Tire Size
You can run 225 without a rubbing problem. the key with wheels is to not get them so wide that they have to pinch in and create a half moon on the sidewalls. I currently have 275/20/40 on a 9 inch rim. Aftermarket make sure the wheel has the proper offset to avoid balance, rubbing and handling issues.
Your stock rims should be 8.5 inches wide, you should be able to go up to a 245, even though your rim is only 212.5mm wide (using rough math). Dont know about rubbing issues, I have an 06 with 255/35/20 front and 295/40/20 rear, I had to use 7/32 spacers all the way around, but what is another $25 when you have spent that much to begin with. 65Standard has all this stuff down pat, he may pop in and give a better answer.
Thanks for the info evilhearseR/T.
I just want to keep the stock rims but would like more tire on the road (wider profile, same tire height).
Hope I am explaining what I want correctly.

Jim,
What is your rim size? I have the stock 18s from R/T. These are 7&1/2" wide and can fit 255 50R18 so your 225s should fit no problem. The 255s look real good. They are slightly smaller diameter than stock(28" vs 28.6") and will lower vehicle .3". I would recommend a 1" shorter spring as well for a total 1.3" drop. I have a 2" lower spring which looks great but causes clearance problems with anything larger than a small orange...already lost one oil pan. A 275 55R18 will actually fit...but the high sidewall will make it look more like a truck tire.

Well - I have an 06 AWD RT. I went with Falken Falken ZIEX S/TZ-01 255's with one lower ratio then the cont's... So went from 55 to 50 ratio a the tires fit.. When I say fit - I mean just fit... The front Shock Arm you can't get your fingers in between the tire and the arm. I didn't want to use any spacers. The Tires has been ( 17K miles ) performing very well. Hold the Road and make the AWD handling much better. Less body lean ??? I'm not an expert - just a car nut and know feel..... All 255's are not the same sizes so be careful to choose a few and see if teh place can mount one of the fronts first to check/
