Traded the Corvette in on a Magnum RT
Hi folks. My Corvette friends think I'm crazy, but I tell them I'm just between Corvettes. I'm sure the Magnum will get a plastic friend before too long. Anyway I had a beautiful 99 magnetic red with oak interior and oak top convertible. It had turned into a flower pot and I was never using it. I finally decided to let it go. I traded for a 2005 brilliant black crystal RT will all the toys except GPS and I wish I had made them swap out the system for one with GPS. I'm getting a lot of use out of the Magnum and I'm not looking back. Here's a list of interesting cars I've owned. I still love Corvettes, but I've always been a MoPar and PMD guy.

Thanks Bob. Are you talking swap-out for the GPS/AM/FM/CD/Sirus from just the AM/FM/CD/Sirius, or a separate GPS?
Oh yeah, on my other cars that I think are interesting.... I left out the 1977 Black/gold Firebird Formula 400 cu in. and my first car.... a 1963 4-door, slantin' 6, 3-on-the-tree, dog-dish hubcap, tar-paper in the floor Dodge 330 sedan.. [8D]

You would just need the REC (same system that is optional on the RT) navigation unit which has am/fm 6 disc cd along with the sirius radio and the Uconnect if you have it in the car already. You would also need a new faceplate for about $50.00. The REC system you can find brand new on ebay for around $800.-$1100. bucks.
That makes me feel a whole lot better, seeing corvettes being traded on a Magnum RT,
I agonized a great deal on which to get, the Vette or the Magnum.
The Magnum won, but I still would like a Vette one of these days...
I see you picked the best color too - Congrats!
And being a Vette guy, you probably already have some Zaino laying about :-)

Thanks guys. I'm definitely going to look into the REC on EBay.
Mike, most of the C5 guys are really big on Zaino and it does a great job. I actually started with Liquid Glass and, since my Vette never slept outside and was never driven in the rain, the magnetic red looked great. So I never changed. I'm looking forward to getting a few coats on the Magnum.
My wife rarely drove the Vette to work (Primarily because of the comments the uninitiated would make). They would show up for work in their $45,000 SUV and make comments about how rich she must be to afford a Corvette. Not realizing that it was in the same price range as their vehicles. Now when she drives the Magnum (Which she loves to do), she only gets positive comments about what a great looking car it is. And the guys are all envious of the Hemi.
Anyway, they never get into the cost of the Magnum. Of course, I don't buy cars to please others, I buy them to please me. But at least now, she doesn't have to put up with negative comments.
Speaking of negative comments.... Since the Magnum came out, the press keeps saying how polarizing the design is. I've never met anyone who didn't like the design. Maybe I just hang out with the right crowd.

I never traded in a Corvette on the Magnum, but I do have one sitting in the garage (an '01 Tourch Red Convertible). I am thinking of selling it because I like the Magnum so much. The Magnum has power and attitude and is a lot driver friendlier than the Corvette. I know what you mean about the negative comments. I've had five Corvettes and unless someone owned (or had owned) a Corvette, the comment was always pretty negative. (a red '76, a red '80, a red '95, a red '02 Z-06, and this red '01 convertible)
With the Magnum, the number one question everybody asks with a smile is, "Does it have a Hemi?". Smiles are a lot more comforting than having to justify to someone (I don't even want to talk to) why I drive a Corvette.
