question for those who ordered a magnum
I will repeat myself, why order when you can search the dealers inventory and find the car you want?
I found mine and drove it home the same day, no waiting!

When you live in a town of 7000 population, and the nearest dealer, other than the one here, is in another state 84 miles away, and the next closest is over a hundred miles away, and when you contact them they don't reply or will not give you a price quote, is the reason why I ordered one.
If I wanted an overloaded, overpriced, any color car from a lot, I would have just driven there and bought it as is.

Lucky,
You order cars because you don't agree paying the $3,000 to $5,000 mark-up that the dealers put on the high demand cars. Here in California, they don't have to negotiate with these cars. All of the RT's that I test drove prior to me ordering and getting mine were already bought, just waiting for the guy to come in and sign papers. They will test drive them until they are physically sold, just to tease you. But once I drove one, I had to have one. Figure I waited about three months for mine, at about $550 per month, is $1,650 for three months, and I would have had to pay $3,000 for the right now car, a net savings of $1,450 to $3,450! Plus I got the color I wanted, the options I wanted, non of the options I didn't want and a Window Sticker (that is now framed) that reads, " This car is Custom Built for ...." ME!!!! I have only bought eight new cars and this is the first car I have ever ordered, but ANY other new vehicle that I purchase will be ordered. NOTHING LIKE IT!

Old Bob,
I would expect your Magnum to be delivered to you near the Mid to end of February. That is only bases on my delivery date, as I listed above.

I ordered mine from a small dealer (town population 30,000) in Texas on Aug 9th. It was delivered Dec 3rd.
1 week shy of 4 months.
Well worth the wait, I've been happy ever since.

We just lucked out on the lot, we looked at ordering one and built it up on the computer, couldn't make a deal with the dealer so went to another dealer(this was last June) and he had one on the lot that was exactly as we built it on the computer and he would deal, drove it home two days later. This is the first car I have been excited about for a long time and we both really like it. As I have said in other posts, they are on the lots here with about any options you would like.
Guess I am used to living in bigger towns, it does have it's advantages.
My local dealer wanted $2,000 over sticker price, I refused to pay it and started to walk out the door. They called me back in and I paid sticker price for my RT. Plus I got the $1.000 rebate for financing it through Chrysler, then after a few months, I refinanced the car with a lower rate (and another rebate) with my credit union.
There are about 5 dealers within 80 miles of me, I searched all their inventories online.
I went to the dealer that had the color I wanted, plus the car had all the options I wanted. The only option I didn't want, was the 6 disc player, but I do use it now.
I guess I am too impatient to just order one.
Have only ordered about 3 cars in all my years of buying cars and that was 3 too many.

In the spring I was told 6 - 8 weeks to get our RT ordered at the lot in town. While they had RTs on the lot, they were all under agreement so I could not even drive one. Since we were getting a Magnum, I need to decide if I could live without the RT or not. As was suggested by others here, I looked at other dealerships and found two RTs in a lot near my office. Drove one during lunch and was hooked! The one I drove was not what I wanted, but the one in the showroom was it exactly.
That weekend, I went to the local lot and asked them to deal on the other guys car. They did and we had it by the end of the week.
My reasoning for buying it at the place near my house was that it would serviced there and they were offering free tires for life. Of course, know I ask "who would want more Conti's?" But that's another story.

ordered mine on 12/8 and still haven't heard about a build date. No sweat since I got tired of waiting and hit dodge.com, found what I wanted 160 miles away for no markup (in the town where my Mom lives; a nice coincidence) and drove it home that night.
160 miles is only 2 hrs driving on the right freeways
I kept the order open partly out of curiosity to see how long it'd take if I waited, and partly cuz I haven't had the time to call them and get my deposit back. However the word from two other dealers is it'd be early April at best.
Worst case, I would have flown to Indiana or Iowa, where from the sound of it the sky is raining RT's.

well see here's the deal with me ordering. 1) I get what I want and get locked into a price. 2) i have only two dealerships within what I call a reasonable distance to drive, and one of which I just don't like. Anyways, though the salesman called me and told me that the car had begun being built yesterday. so what I was really wondering is how long should it take to build it then ship it to Kansas?
