Default FlowMaster DRONE

I have had the Flowmaster Series 40 mufflers on my car for about 5 months now, the sound was powerful - but the "drone" at 1700 to 2000 RPM was very annoying. I loved the deep rumble of the Flowmasters (no resonators) and it sounded good, but I finally had the muffler shop weld in a couple of short mufflers (resonators) and the DRONE is GONE! It still sounds good, not as loud as before, but still VERY noticable.

I would recommend the shorty mufflers or resonators if you have trouble with any DRONE from your mufflers.

Glad I made the change.

Bob...

I too had the same problem.....but I didn't hold out as long
as you. I added my 12" glass packs about a week or so after
I had the Flowmaster Series 40's installed.

It has a real good sound.....and when I added the K&N Typhoon
kit....it really sounds great!

I just had the 40 put on and I agree the drone is bad. I was wondering if you put them before or after the 40?

Here is a link to a photo of what I had done... PHOTO
It is a 12" glasspack....it toned down the 60 to 70 mph drone a great deal.

I hope this will help.....

Mine are smaller but in the same location, just behind the chrome exhaust tips. Will post a photo after I charge up my camera battery.

Here are photos of the shorty mufflers or resonators I had installed. They work very well and my DRONE is all gone.

Total cost was $60.
