Motor question?
You too?
I hit, according to the digital speedo and the needle, 135, and stayed there for over two minutes...chickened out, IH 10 in Texas isnt designed for that speed!
I was talking about it to the dealer when I had the oil changed and tires rotated last, service writer seemd sorta put/suprised out when I mentioned it....thats when I heard there was a limiter on these things...seems mine is not set...
and I dont seem to have all the electrical snafus a lot of the folks on this forum have...the thing has run perfect since I bought it august..only beef was a right hand pull, and the alignment the dealer did fixed it right up!
Now, when I changed the air filter, I did find the upper neck band from a bottle of Michalobe beer in the bottom of the air cleaner, stuck to the inside, face up...
Guess its better if the Canadians have a few brews before they build the cars?

My car must not know there is one....all i know...it wanted to keep going.
I thought the service guys at my dealer were just BS'ng me when they
said mine is the fastest RT they have ever driven....maybe they weren't.
They keep asking me if I "chip'd" it....NOPE!

I had stated this earlier on the forum, but I think it was Dodgemech who responded right away and said NO.
The chips are capable of learning your driving habits, even to the point where it will retard the speed limiter and allow you to go faster than programmed, over time. The computer will slowly adjust to your driving habits. I understand and know that this is not how the Computer is programmed, nor is this how they should operate. However, by my Cousins testimony (he works for an OEM) and others here on the forum, there are some cool chips out there that do not perform as intended. That is cool... I hope I have one of them...

OK, case in point...
This whole Electrical issue is driving me nuts right now, because my RT is acting up, due to an Electronic / Computer issue. So I spoke to my brother who has the following story about the on-board Computers:
In the early to mid 90's (not sure on exact date) when this technology was starting to be implemented, Ford tested this 'learning' Computer in the Escort. Of coarse this was the early stages of the technology and I am sure it is far better now. But the Escort would retard the vehicle to the point of an average, that was calculated by actual driving data. The cars, if not driven hard, would become so sluggish and non-responsive, they were sent in for repairs. Now comes the good part... For this Service, the customer would be told that it would take about (3) days to repair, as the shop was currently busy for an immediate repair. The Escort would then be parked in the back and have the battery disconnected for about 15 minutes to a half an hour. To reset the Computer. For the next (3) days the car was used to do the local deliveries and lunch runs, never driven without the gas pedal fully depressed, even if only for a split second and then have to coast to the next light. The result, Computer gets reset to original settings, running at 100% for (3) days 'teachs' the car to go like a bat out of hell. Now when you barely depress the gas, it takes off, compared to a sluggish acceleration when floored before resetting and re-teaching the Computer.
The same theory is applied to our Computers in the Magnum. Knowing that Electronics is a theory, not a fact, I am perfectly comfortable with the reality that some Electronic parts fail, or do not perform as intended...

That's a guarantee.
There are some really brilliant minds out there thinking this stuff up, I've worked with some of the best on cool stuff like submarine sonar, land based radar and advanced comand and control stuff, along with some weapons systems. It isn't like I got to help design all the stuff, but the guys who did used the systems I maintained, and over the years you pick up quite an appreciation for what computers can actually reliably accomplish.
I wouldn't be surprised at anything this car does :-)
Mike
