Default Flowmaster 40 & Dynomax Ultraflow Sound Bytes

Just go to my webpage in the signature. The Flowmaster 40 is what I started with. Loud, Deep and drone from hell. The Dynomax Ultraflow is what I am staying with. Not as Loud, not as deep and drones only when I step on it. Oh yeah its on a SXT 3.5L single muffler with no resonators, Just a chrome tip.

You should have went with the Flowmasters and just installed a pair of shorty glasspacks or resonators to eliminate the DRONE.

That's what I did, on my RT.

Well I would have but the guy that I was working with at the exhaust shop was "experimenting" on the mag. He did the labor for free and mufflers at cost. We did the FM 40, FM 50 and then finally the Dynamax.

Hey Florida Bob,

Just curious...what did you use for glasspaks? I have an RT with Flowmaster Super 40s, but the resonators are still in place. Sounds better than stock but still too sedate for me. I was planning to just hack the resonators off in the spring. Maybe I should worry about droning?

356Magnum- those are great soundbites. They both sound good, but I really like the sound of the Flowmasters with the deeper sound. Personal preference since I've always been into muscle cars and not so much into the high-revving cars.

I've seen so many threads on the exhaust subject and it's getting more and more difficult to decide which way I want to go with it. So far I think the best sounding option for my RT is the Flowmaster 40s with the resonators still attached...but now Boston Bob is saying it's still too sedate. How sedate is TOO sedate? Does it actually sound like you have an engine under the hood with your current setup or does it still sound close to stock?

Yeah I like the Flowmasters myself. I was thinking of doinglike MagnumRT did with the 12" glasspacks as resonators. But since I had worked out the experimenting deal with muffler guy, we were looking for the sound of the mufllers by themselves. One thing I was thinking of was burning the flowmaster sound to a CD and then playing it through the sound system so I can have the both of both worlds hahahahahahah. Remember though that this is on a SXT single exhaust, so on the R/T with duals it will be better. I have a satellite/sub setup on the computer so it sounds nice and deep on the flowmasters. I guess my tastes have changed too when I went from the "Redneck Ram" 2002 1500 Ram to the Magnum.
