Comparison with and without Roof rack pics
The color is a lil off because of he times of day that I took the pics were different. I'll ahave to get a better pic tomorrow to make the 2 of the same angle. I have ground down the studs to about a 1/16" above the body. Threw on some touchup paint to keep it from rusting. Right now im getting estimates to finish off the top. Since I did not drill out the holes they can grind down to the skin, using the bolt shaft as filler. This way it can be dimpled a lil bit then a skimming of filler can be used. It's like looking at 2 different cars. First estimate is $681.

Big improvement!!
I just can't figure out what they were thinking when they put roof-racks on these beauties!! About the only thing they should've done was offer a simple add-on rack that could be removed when not in use.
Oh, and another thing. Not slamming your car or anything, but I much prefer the body-side moulding ON the car. To me, it really looks like it's missing something without it. But like I say, that's just me. Everyone's a bit different.

you cant really get away with using the cut bolts as filler because it'll crack where your roof hits the bolt.
They'll have to grind em down a bit then weld some metal as filler and drop the headliner to keep it from burning.
That's not a bad price they are quoting you. Go ahead and get a couple more. I had my dealership do it and it was $900. They ended up doing it twice because of the bolt as filler thing. They ended up having it over two weeks dinking with that and the viper hood.

I gotta say, shaving the rack is one of my favorite mods so far. Makes a huge difference.

Roof Rack!....
I had originally ordered my RT with a Roof Rack. It was on order for about a month or so, when I finally saw an RT with the horid looking Roof Rack installed drive by my work. I called the Fleet Manager and asked if it was too late to modify my order to delete the Roof Rack. Luckily, that was the week that DC was finalizing orders, and I was able to eliminate the Roof Rack of death. (I would have cancelled my order and re-ordered if I had to) I thought the Roof Rack would be similar to my 2001 Durango, with recessed slots on the top for the Cross Bars of the Roof Rack to slide into. But this thing is like a Surface Mounted '70 era Roof Rack. Surface Mounted Support Rails with the Cross Bars ontop of that. I was very disappointed with the look of the Magnum Roof Rack and hope for future buyers, that they revise this design. This car looks too nice to ruin it with a Roof Rack...

I saw your post about the filler cracking and the guys here said that what may have happend is that they did not "dimple" it enough and/or put the filler on too thick and did not allow time to cure. I know that too thick/too fast will result in cracking. I butchered a dent fill once myself and since have left it up to the pros. I just might go to the dealer and see what they say. I had a rough estimate for the welding and it was around $800 at different body shop. There is a guy on base that does body work using the base auto hobby shop tools and booth. I just might enlist his services under the condition that I get to watch aaha. Maybe even learn a thing or two.
356 Magnum,
Your ride looks way better with the Roof Rack cut. Also, I have no grudge against the Roof Racks, just my personal choice. Curious though, did you get your Magnum off the lot or was it an order from a Dealer?

It does look pretty cool smooth. I actually ordered mine with the roof rack, I just wish it was chrome, like the one I put on my Passat. It was the same holes as the Audi S4 or S6, I forget which. I really do use my roof rack.
