Default vehicle's speed sensor

any one know where this is located and how to tap into it for installing a navigation system?

I suppose it's on the side of the transmission somewhere. That's where it is on most cars. However, do GPS units, such as the ones from Garmin, use the VSS? I was under the impression that they just plugged into a power source/lighter (plug-n-pray?).

The headunit gps units now adays use the VSS for tracking purposes incase you loose a fix on the gps satellite. It keeps you on track until you can reaquire a signal

The LX uses the ABS module to calculate VSS. I would not recommend splicing in to ANY wiring that is on the CAN.

There is a reason the factory NAV system costs more than the generic systems.
