Days gone by...
Would you believe that without ever seeing an RT Magnum up close that I would go to a dealer and order one? You are talking about putting out $30,000 for a car that you have never seen.
I fell in love with this car as I saw it passing by on the street. It reminded me of the days gone by when I was a kid (a young man) drag racing in the S.F bay area in the early 50’s. I well remember a guy with a ’49 Merc that was chopped and channeled, who challenged me in my ’41 Chevy Coupe that had a 270 Jimmy in it. I beat him, in the first three blocks, but I peaked out at about 85 because of my low gear ratio, but I always remembered the looks of that car. The Magnum brought back all these memories.
I ordered a RT Magnesium Pearlcoat 29N with none of the froo-fraws, as I have always been a person that did not like what the companies offered to make the car cost a whole lot more.
All you guys out there that are much younger than me, will never realize the fun of cars back in the days when you could race on the streets without hassles from the police, and no one thought it was wrong.
We had wide open exhausts, straight pipes, but the cars were not safe. The brakes were bad, the suspensions were bad, they broke down constantly, but what fun we had.

What great pictures. A beautiful car. Pictures you took are nice and clear. I would have liked to have gotten a black one, but my wife was against it. We live in a dusty area and it would have to be washed constantly.
I am glad to hear there still some "been there, done that" people around.

Bob, Kinda know the feeling. I did the mechnical work on a few Iroc Z's , GN's and Mustang LX/GT 5.0's in the late 80's early 90's. Did a bit too much street racing for my own good ( i was lucky and managed to keep a clean record ) It was more fun playing with other peoples money
I would love to have been around in the 50's and 60's but I wasnt even a twinkle in daddy's eye yet 
Now I am happy with a factory hotrod thats got working AC and a good sound system that I can hear over the exaust.
And I too fell in love with the looks of the Magnum, Strong feelings from Cadzilla's chop and channel work that Boyd's shop did.

From one old Bob to another, I have also been there, done that.
My first car was a 1953 Chevrolet Belair 2dr, straight 6 and powerglide(powerflop) 2 speed tranny. Car was two tone, dark green and white, I had the car painted all white and put on red pinstripes. The original single barrel carb was replaced with 3 single barrel carbs, bought a split exhaust manifold (duals) and ran straight pipes for a short time, got tired of being stopped by Chicago's finest..............
1953 was the first year that Chevy offered power steering, mine had it.
Back then the oil filter was another option, mine had it, they used to bolt onto the exhaust manifold with the help of a bracket. Nothing like having hot oil for your engine, LOL.
Oh to be young again, I am already foolish...............lol

never saw one up close and never test drove one, went to the dealer didnt like what was on the lot wanted a black one,stiuck with that color took him two weeks to get it,,because i wanted only black and the one the dealer got me had more options then what i wanted i got those thrown in for free....,,and i love this car,, mine is a sxt awd

I missed your time by a bit...I grew up around 72 454 Chevelles, 383 Superbees, and 400 cu inch 67 GTOs (or so...and others)...unfortunately due to $ contraints, I was limited to a 283 cu inch in a 67 Chevy Impala...afterwards a Nova. I used to drool over the big blocks and Mickey Thompson 50 series... those days are long gone... But a lot of the new stuff can put a few of those to shame, so... life is good. It's nice to see and hear that gear heads are still out there though. Nice to know others have the knuckle scars too.
