Default AWD vers 2WD Hemi..

All out performance, AWD or 2WD ??

I have found a AWD R/T Mangum, I don't care for the AWD, THe car is really to low to offer any advantages for winter driving, But I do like the car.

Is the AWD a expensive head ache from the get go? any benifits with MPG ?

all out performance, the rwd is better. why, the whole car is lighter and less horsepower wasted turning over the drivetrain. the only time the AWD is fast is when the RWD has traction problems.

Wink AWD vers 2WD Hemi

I have an AWD Hemi. I have driven my car through 8"+ of snow and not gotten stuck. I have a driveway with a steep incline, the car never slips a tire going up the driveway in the snow.

The AWD does sit higher and is not as attractive as the 2WD, but the 60-40 split is very noticable when you romp on it! You don't spin the tires, you just go! Going with the AWD was the best selection I made when I purchased the Magnum.

If you live in an area where snow appears in the winter time I would highly recommend the AWD. If snow is not an issue, then go with the 2WD.

I'm in th SAME boat as the OP. I found an AWD R/T for 14k but for some reason I'm still drawn to the 6.1 SRT8 RWD that would be parked like my G35 anytime the weather go bad. lol

The AWD's are really nice, but unless you have lotsa snow where you live, I wouldn't want one.... go for the SRT IF you can afford it; you won't be sorry!

I love my AWD! I had a 300C RWD as a loaner and it drove me nuts in the rain and scared the crap out of me in the snow. Seemed like every time I started off on wet surface the trac control would kick in. That never happens with the AWD. Maybe it was just the tires, but I like the immediate "GO" regardless of the conditions that I get from the AWD.
To each his own, just my $.02.

I have a 2007 Dodge Charger SXT AWD and my brother has a 2005 Dodge Magnum RT RWD and with driven both in the snow and the rain I would recommend the AWD hands down.
