Are you talking about relearning the electronic throttle motors? They do a quick check everytime you start the car....UNLESS you delay in turning from on to start. If you delay at the that transition then there will be a dealy in cranking as the motors do a full calibration, 2-3 seconds vs. 500ms. It just makes sure that the throttle plates are where the motors indicate they should be.

Denny,

So is the reset we are talking about (there is a version of this in the KB at dodgemagnum.net, and another at Dodgetalk) really doing us some good or is it all in our heads? I saw differences in a stock computer (i.e. one I had just disconnected for a 1/2 hr) that seemed hyooge.

Doing any good? Maybe, It is is for safety more than anything else, won't do much for performance. The NGC will learn how you drive and adjust, it is pretty tough to "fool" it in to giving you more power. Your best bet is just to drive as you normally do and try to avoid resetting adaptives too much (battery diconnect). Over time the NGC will slowly give you a little more power as the mileage racks up.

Matt,

I tried your technique, it did seems to help with the 1st to 2nd shift.
A little firmer, not enough but a little firmer.

I’ll keep testing when it quits raining here.

Yeah it doesn't give any more power. Just snappier shifting, as instead of

Waaaaaaaaah (*shift-one-two*) WAAAAAHH

its

Waaaaaaaaah (*shift*) WAAAAAHH

And as dodgemech says its not something that will last. I had the chance to test it a bit on some repeated 1/4 mile runs. Without doing this I can't crack 6.0 seconds at 0-60 unless I drive off a cliff. I did a reset and ran a 5.70, a 5.75, a 5.78 a 5.88 and a 5.97 (not in a row like that). The times I posted at my site were all run with a reset just prior as well.
