2005 Magnum, lots of clunking noises from front end
The clunking you "may" be hearing in the front on the Magnums are the worn pins in the front brake calipers,,, after redoing my complete front suspension AND wheels and tires,, I happened to find the stock pins were very worn on the one side,, bought new pins and hardware and no more noise,,, I haven't heard any noise, clunking from the rear brakes,,hope this helps,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Just wanted to let people know going through this Dodge Magnum front end clunking problem as I have been for the last year, that it was completely cured with new swaybar BUSHINGS.. Earlier I had replaced inner and outer tie rods, swaybar LINKS and the clunking never subsided when going over bumps etc. After reading this forum and a few others I decided to give the swaybar bushings a try. The mechanic who originally inspected the vehicle said they were in great shape and didn't need to be replaced. When I picked up the car, he showed me the old ones and commented they looked fine to him and the replacement probably didn't solve my problem. Well he was wrong. My 2005 Dodge Magnum RT is riding as quiet as my granddaddy's 75' Cadillac Coupe de Ville. Tip Top Magoo!

Excellent thread and responses. I want to add that the oil pan splash guard can also sometimes be loose and rattle. It slaps against the frame and other plastic guard it connects to. I added additional screws to mine to secure it firmly. That took care of one of multiple rattles.
Thanks for a great post.
Thanks for a great post.
I had my inner and outer tire rods replaced, had a steering creeking noise in front end at slow turns, but i declined the repairs because i think the dealership said it was the most expensive item like the axle if i recall correctly that was 2 1/2 years ago and i still driving it. I had a squeaking noise in the steering column when turning wheel. They LUBED the steering shaft boot. There was a laundry list of items they mentioned from ball joints, upper plates strut, shocks, tension stouts, sway bar links, suspension bushings, outer tie rods, control arm bushing, etc. I have a 2006 Dodge Magnum R/T Hemi. You may also have issues with the lights flickering and going off. My lights completely stopped working one morning. The automatic lights went out. I started using the manual lights for several weeks, and the automatic started working again. I always felt that the ECM computer needed flashing or maybe there was a computer update for it but was told it wasn't. Sometimes I would get in it and it would not start on the first try, but i would turn it off and back on and it would start up like normal. The car dash lights would all flicker , RPMS, guages, etc. almost like the car died but it would still be running. I changed the battery and took my K&N filter off and its been working fine ever since. Had the fuel tank replaced under warranty. Had water pump and oil pressure switch replaced. Recalls completed.
