Default First Oil Change

Finally was time to change the oil for the first time. So I thought I would stop by my dealer and see if they remembered me. They did, and not because I have had any problems, I have had none at all.

The oil change cost me $5.14 for the filter. They use a synthetic blend from Kendall. I think for 5 bucks I will let them change the oil every 3K miles. I was out in under 30 minutes.

Even more interesting. I wandered around the lot to see what they had in stock and I noticed two red RT AWD's. Since I have an AWD and had originally ordered a red one, I checked them out. And, to my amusement, there was my name on the window sticker of the one without the roof rack. They have apparently traded with the dealer with whom I had originally placed the order.

After seeing the car I originally ordered, I am glad I got impatient and bought a black one. The black is so much more elegant/mean/sleek/etc.

So with the car and excellent dealer service, I am a happy camper.

Did they use 5w-30 oil?
I've heard that some have had a problem with the dealer using straight 30w.

Actually it should be 5W-20 not 5W-30.

Oh, and yes.
3 oil changes in 7000 miles would qualify as ****.

Yes, on the 5w20. I asked and this is a good dealer. They also mentioned that they are really having very little service work on the Magnums they sell and they are the largest dealer in this area.

A followup.

My dealer called Friday to inquire if my oil change experience was satisfactory. If they are trying to impress me, they may be suceeding.

My mechanic, who is going to be doing my oil changes for me, said that the MOPAR motor oil is basically made by Mobil 1. So, I think I am gonna be running 5w-20 with a nice black MOPAR filter.
