Very close to getting the SXT
Well...I haven't posted in over a month now. Work has kept me quite busy (which is a good thing).
On Friday I met with a salesman at a dealership a few miles out of my home city. He was able to find THE exact car I was looking for. A red SXT with no extra options. And the price seems pretty good......$32000 Cdn. I specifically wanted the red, as personally I don't care for any of the other colours offered (still wish there was an option for yellow!!!!!). I don't need any of the extra options offered. I plan to upgrade the factory sound later on anyways, and I've never liked sunroofs or roof racks. Gotta keep that roof nice and clean!! To me, the SXT comes from the factory with all the options I need. I even wish I could save money by getting the basic wheels with hub-caps, as I plan to add some nice aftermarket rims. Oh well.....I suppose I could sell the SXT rims to someone with an SE.
Both the wife and I are pretty excited about it. Ever since I layed my eyes on these cars, it's been love at first sight. In a perfect world, I'd certainly go for the RT.....but I simply can't justify the price. Here in Canada the RT's are about half the price of a starter home. Just too much money for me. I did get a chance to drive both an SE and an SXT. I found that the SE was okay for driving and power. Certainly not an overload of guts, but it wasn't totally worthless. The only thing that worries me is how long would that engine last pulling all that weight around. And the price I'm getting the SXT for is only a couple grand more. After taking an SXT out a couple times, I was quite satisfied at the performance. I'm sure the Hemi folks here will giggle at that, but I'm pretty happy with the 3.5L. Plenty of power to get up to speed, and good passing ability. I may do a few small upgrades after a while. Nothing too crazy......it is going to be our family transport, and I'm not interested in heavy muscle with two wee-ones in the back. I never did take an RT out for a test drive. I think that would just be self-cruelty. There's no way I could afford it, so there's no point in rubbing my nose in it.
Anyways.....hope to post some photos sometime soon (as long as everything goes according to plan). With luck I'll finally have a red Magnum in my driveway soon!!!
Cheers,
