Default VIN#

I need some help on reading VIN# codes. I looked on the net and it appears no update listed since 2003.

I received a VIN# two weeks ago for the Magnum I ordered back in Dec ’04. Was told it is in build status D-1. (D-1 is Gateline schedule – scheduled to be built)

The first digit is 2 which denotes built in Canada. The second is D, which up until 2003 denoted Mercedes. Dodge cars were listed a B. Does anyone know if the codes have been changed on the manufacturers code? The 10th digit is 6, which denotes a 2006 model, and the 11th is an H which is the Brampton factory.

Another thing that I question is that according to all I have read, the 2006 production will not start until the first of April, and that the initial order acceptance for the 2006 models was 01/24/05.

If I ordered a 2005 model Dec 6, ’04, why is mine now a 2006 model, and is in D-1 status.

I shouldn’t be so **** about this, but I like to know what’s going on. Has anyone who ordered a Magnum in December had this happen?

My suspicion is that the dealer I ordered from did not place the order until after 1/24/06, and I may not get this car until the end of April or May.

Bob,

Mine is just like you point out, first number is 2, second is D. My 10th is a 5 (2005) and 11th H.

Hope yours gets built soon, I'm crossing my fingers for you.

I ran my VIN on the site listed. Showed my car to be a Plymouth.

Country : Canada
Make : Plymouth
Type : undefined
Model Year : Year not in database!
Safety System : undefined
Body : undefined
Series : undefined
Style : undefined
Engine : undefined
Check Digit : 7
Plant : Bramalea, Ontario, Canada (I thought Brampton was the factory)
Serial Number : 116775

On June 28th, 2001, the last Plymouth, a silver Neon, left the plant without fanfare or recognition. Plymouth existed for 73 years, built over 20 million automobiles and was once one of the top three automakers in the world.

Like I said earlier, these sites are not up to date.

That is because the program is good up to 2004 vehicles only.

stboden,

This has nothing to do with this thread, but what brand/model of wheels are those on your red Magnum? They look great.

So, when are your going to paint the brakes to match the car?

I'm at work and I forgot the exact name of the wheels...I'll edit the post when I find out. My red Infiniti G35 coupe has gold brembo brake pads. I really like them and get a lot of thumbs up from other people, so I'm thinking about going gold. I also have more pictures in the custom picture section at top of forum.
