HO Alternator
Chefboyrlee,
You've got the right idea. [sm=goodidea.gif] The Police Magnums will be out soon. Wait for the Dodge aftermarket Alternator. There may be some wiring harnesses that may need to be upgraded as well, to go along with the Alternator upgrade. Let us know what you finally do to fix the problem.

to get an idea of what i'm running...
i have 2 fosgate 800a2 amps each powering their own sub at close to 1000 watts rms. + i have a 4 channel diamond audio powering 4 component speakers at 50 watts per channel. so i guess i have about 2500 watts rms. i was thinkin about getting a red top battery....

Stinger brand has a 325amp alternator.
Here is a weblink that describes the relation of draw. wire guage
Im still trying to figure out his logic "Total RMS power x 2 = Total power usage" then "Multiply the total RMS power by 2 (since most amps are only 50% efficient)". The main reason for the link is for the guage to amp draw chart.
hmm this site says amp are only 50% efficent also the12volt.com

i think i'll do the "big 3" wire upgrade to 0 awg wire when i get the time.
1) battery negative to chassis
2) alternator to battery positive
3) chassis to engine
that'll be step 1, if there are still probs...then maybe red top...then maybe police package alt....

"Multiply the total RMS power by 2 (since most amps are only 50% efficient)" A 100w amp will draw like a 200w amp with 100% efficiency
