Default Got one! SRT8

Well, I got back on the internet yesteday and e-mailed all of my local dealers again. Today I snagged one of 2 a local dealer has comming in within two weeks. I gotta believe that this is the first one in my area, LA - Orange County, California. I'm paying a whole bunch over sticker but I got one! A black one with every option according to the salesman. I'm taking my $5K depo to him tommorow and will get all the details and will report back tommorow afternoon. Depo is 100% reundable upon arrival so I'll be looking for a better deal in the meantime. Had another dealer e-mail back to say she had 1 coming but by the time I called her it was gone. She's trying to find out if it sold or if it was a computer burp. Sounds like they're coming down the pipe and going out as fast as they arrive and I'm stoked that I got one.

I knew it was too good to be true! This guy was selling me a 300C SRT8, not a Magnum. Oh well! Back to the waiting game. Sorry for the bad info!
KK

PS: Now I'm thinking about buying the 300 instead. Someone change my mind! I want a Magnum really.

Dude! Don't get the 300. It's an awesome car but I really only see a ton of really old folks drivin it. It is kinda Dodges version of the Dadillac. Whatever one you get I am freakin jealouse. I am pissed that I bought the AWD HEMI now that I am moving to Florida. I love the car though. The Magnum , in my opinion, is the way to go. Especially if that's what you wanted in the first place.

undropped,
From everything I'm seeing and reading on this site and others, the new 6.1 is a much better built engine plus the brakes, suspension, etc. is much improved over the 2005 Magnum and is prices accordingly. I'm not a wrencher anymore so I am looking for the highest tech, best built, etc. new car and, luckily, price is not the biggest consideration for me. I promote a car show in the Southwest and have a lot of commercial customers as well as car owners that participate at my show to help me with this project. I will add aftermarket exhaust, CAI, enhanced suspension, custom paint or graphics etc. to the 2006 anyways so trying to re-invent the wheel with a 2005 is not an option for me. I did try to buy an RT when they first came out but ended up on the sidelines watching and listening and finally deciding to wait for the 6.1.

On that note, do any of you motorheads out there know if the existing 5.7 aftermarket exhaust (cat back) systems and other compnents will bolt up to the 2006 SRT8?

I really envy all of you guys out there that provide us with all of the hands on info on this and the other sites we all visit. Thanks!!!!! I have been collecting web site links to aftermaerket and informational sites from all over the net for almost a year in anticipation of purchasing a Magnum and would be glad to send anyone out there those links if you would like them. I must have close to 100 sites in my favorites under "MAGNUM" now.

I now have about 4 or 5 dealers in So. Cal. that are supposed to contact me the moment they get info on the availability on the SRT8s. I'll keep you all informed when it really happens.

Mike,
Thanks for the input. Although I'm 56, going on 16, I really want the Magnum. I just love the look. My Dad had a 1962 Chrysler 300 (E or F o whatever). Had the 413, dual quads, limited slip, torque flite, leather buckets and I got to drive it occasionaly when I was in high school and have this thing in the back of my mind that keeps teling me I should buy the 300 because "Dad had one". Actually, he gave me the car when he got too old to take care of his cars and I ended up selling it to a Canadian collector for 1500.00. F....................................! Oh well, I was recently divorced at the time and living at the beach with no garage so it was probably the right thing to do.

I think I'll wait for the Magnum SRT8.

Yes, but why? The SRT-8 comes with a free flowing 3.5" exhaust already. The exhaust note is subdued but deep and very sweet.

Thanks. I read that about the 6.1 exhaust/header system and I guess it just didn't register. I'll keep that in mind when I finally get it. That money can go elsewhere!
