7/70 warranty

7/70 warranty
Hope to get some straight answers to this query, because I have a 2006 RT on order.
On the dodgetalk forum, there are posts about the 7 year 70,000 mile warranty being discontinued on 2006 year models, and going to 3 year 36,000.
Does anyone have the straight scoop on this? I dropped by my dealer and they had not heard of it.
Also, on one of the posts they said the 7/70 was worth $1100 to $1500 on the price of the car. My dealer said it was only $500.
Anyone with answers?

RE: 7/70 warranty
If DCX does that, it will screw up their comeback. They have brought back quality and service on par with the very competitve Asian market, then go and **** it away by pulling a stunt like dropping their warranty way below even the cheapest of the Asian cars? Either DCX doesn't see their cars' quality being sufficient enough to be backed by a 7/70, or they are listening to their financial people more than their marketing people.
Hopefully it isn't true...and if it is, well, Dodge can say goodbye to a lot of new and previous customers!
Bob,
What did you mean by how much the 7/70 was worth on the price of the car?

RE: 7/70 warranty
I guess my biggest problem would be with the potential handling of those who have already ordered the 06 models. Personally, I would think they should honor the 7/70 for those autos on order since you ordered them with 7/70 warranty. They probably won't, but I think they should.

RE: 7/70 warranty
you have a 7/70 powertrain warrenty, bumper to bumper is 3/36, they sell 3 levels of extended warrenties though, they were probably trying to sell you the 7/70 bumper to bumper, I actualy got the 5/50 bumper to bumper on mine, had extended it on my dakota and was worth it cause I did have to bring it in a few times past when the 3/36 would have ended so I decided it was worth it for the extra $900.

I found this at Allpar:
Allpar News: Chrysler to drop 7/70 Powertrain Warranty
Thanks to KerrymanMopar for this information (it is quoted from an unnamed source within Chrysler, it’s by no means official). Posted on April 05, 2005.
“Over the past five years, warranty costs have been reduced by over 40%, and we have had 13 straight years of double-digit quality improvements at the Chrysler group. As the overall quality of our products continues to improve, an extended powertrain warranty has become less important to our customers. Ownership trading cycles are decreasing - Chrysler Group research reveals that the average length of new car ownership is 3.5 years. Despite our heavy promotion of 7/70 since 2002, less than 10% of consumers know that we have an extended powertrain warranty. That is why it has not become the traffic driving tool we had hoped. Consumers want new products and new features. What they truly value are our nine new products in 2004 and the many new products in 2005-2006. This is where we want to invest our money. We have decided to eliminate the 7/70 powertrain warranty effective on '06 MY vehicles. The 3/36 will remain in place.
Service Contracts has already developed new programs that reflect these changes and continues to offer an array of products that range in age/mileage coverage and deductible amounts; which allows dealers the ability to customize the contract to meet customer's needs. These plans can be found starting on Page 10 in the pricing and eligibility guide under New Vehicle Plans 3/36 Basic Warranty tab. Our 3/36 warranty coverage is competitive with General Motors, Ford, and Honda.â€
Question…. What is a MY vehicle?
