Default Parking Brake Issue

I bought my 2007 3.5L SXT Magnum in Sept.2007, when it was exactly 1 year old.

The parking brakes have been terrible from day one. With the pedal to the floor, the car would roll forward at idle in Drive and Reverse.

Today, I had the car in for another issue, and I asked them to check the parking brake for me.

Turns out the rear rotors were shot. The service brake portion of the rotors were fine, but the centre drum portion where the parking brake shoes are located was completely rusted out.

In my opinion, this should become a safety issue with the Chargers/Magnums/300's and Chrysler should be footing the bill for these repairs (a $500 CAD repair bill today).

The Service Advisor at my local Dealership has a 2006 Chrysler 300 and he said his parking brake hasn't worked for 2 years.

Why?

The same problem as mine. The inside of the rotor rusted out and the parking brake shoes fell apart.

Any thoughts & opinions & past experiences?
