Default decent brake upgrade

What is the most reasonable brake upgrade out there. I don't need 6 piston calipers and all the racing stuff. The car does all interstate miles and very few town miles. But the brakes on these cars are a bit sub-par. I had my mechanic tell me that drilled and slotted rotors are a waste unless you ride the brakes like a old granny. Heat dissipation is the only advantage there. He recommended new standard rotors and high quality replacement pads.

What is the most common upgrade for a R/T that you guys are doing.

Hello everyone, I am new here and really love this forum. Everything I read here so far was very informative so I Thank You!!! Now I need some information on this topic here. I have a 2005 Magnum RT with 49K miles and I am noticing a break squeal at the last 10 to 15 ft of coming to a complete stop. also at low speeds where you may come to a speed bump they squeal. The pads still have a great deal of life left on them. My dealer turn the rotors for me which helped for all of 4 days and now the squeal is back. The service man at the dealership said thats the nature of those cars they have a little squeal, but I don't like having a car that squeals so please help with a solution to this problem THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!

The squeal is common and not much can be done with it unless you do a full brake makeover on it. Rotors, pads, calipers, the whole kit and kaboodle. Dodge just has a bad combo of parts for the front brakes. My '09 Charger did the same thing. Brand new off the lot it was squealing at the slow speeds and when the brakes were just slightly pressed. I tried just upgrading the pads at first not knowing about the "common" squeal of these brakes. That did not work. I think the squeal comes mostly from the calipers, although they work perfectly fine, I just think that they are slightly underrated for the the r/t line. Just my thoughts.

Have had my '05 Magnum RT since new and have never had warped rotors or brake squeal problems, and that is driving in SoCal highway traffic. Never had problems stopping, even in highway panic stops. Maybe I have just been lucky. As for upgrading brakes, better pads might help or if you want to spend some bucks look at something like this: http://www.tceperformanceproducts.co...ws.pl?record=1. It really comes down to how much money you are willing to spend.

I've never had issues stopping, its just the squeal at the last 15 ft that bothers me.

my wife bought a 2005 sxt 1 week ago. I posted a question about the brakes rattling at low speed. i know it's the brakes because when you apply brake the rattle goes away. i've changed the pads and all the hardware and still have the annoying rattle. anyone else have that problem ? thanks magnumtm

If you hit the brake and noise stop after you change all the brake, that mean the noise come from one of your Control Arm.Take a rubber hammer and hit your control arm it will sound loose... try this.

I had big problems with my front brakes , they kept worping under extream NY driving ... so i upgraded to slotted rotors from R1 Concepts. here's a copy from my order.
Performance Brake Rotors & Brake Pads - R1Concepts.com Item #12981430
DODGE MAGNUM 06-07 RT Brake Rotors - Cross-Drilled Slotted - Rear
Price: $129.00
Performance Brake Rotors & Brake Pads - R1Concepts.com Item #12981431
DODGE MAGNUM 06-07 RT Front Drill Slot Brake Rotors

I did not buy the pads from them, & I kept the same Rotors.
I used EBC Pads , but they are not needed ......
