Default 2006 Mag RT delivered

FINALLY… After placing an order for a 2005 Magnum RT on December 6, 2004, I picked up a 2006 RT, Magnesium Pearl, on April 21, 2005. The sticker on the door says “built Apr 2005”. Have only driven it 61 miles, but so far I really like the car. Can’t tell any difference between the ’05 and the ’06, but will probably come up with some changes after going over it more closely.
No windshield pop, but tires seem to be noisy. Very quiet exhaust. Transmission seems to take it’s time between shifts. I Like the “slap shift” feature. Torque comes on after gaining RPM’s, seems to not have the power until revs come up.
As other persons have said, this car makes peoples heads turn. I live way up in northeastern California, and there are only two other Magnums in the county. Only one RT.
I think Dodge did a good job on this one.

Yeah,
What's with that on a $30,000 car?

Have you compared with a 2005 to see if you can install the hydraulic lift pistons?

No offense, but it seems that the 2005's were a better deal.

Longer warranty and no prop rod............................

Bob, glad you finally got yours.

Love my 05' RT

Bob

Congrats on finally getting the Mag, Bob. That's a surprise about the hood prop rod. What kind of warranty did you end up getting? Without the car you've had a lot of input on this forum...now I'm sure you'll really have stuff to say

Great news, Bob, glad to hear you got your car. I waited about 4 months for mine, so I could feel your pain.

Go out and put some quality miles on that puppy.

Old Bob N.E. Ca.,
Just drive that sucker. I had read in this forum that Dodge is protecting their Hemi investments by limiting the engines while they are new. Sounds like automated break-in proceedure to me. I was sure to redline the Hemi on the way home from the Dealer to seat the Rings real good. But at 5,000 mile intervals, the computer releases more and more power. I only have 7,200 miles on mine now, but I did feel it get a little 'looser' at around 5,000 miles. Dodgemech stated that 30,000 miles is when it really makes a difference. Can't wait to see if it gets another gain at 10,000 miles. I hope so!

Congradulations on your righteous purchase! Have fun!

Note: I live in Orange County, down herein Southern California. About 3 weeks ago I took a drive from O.C. to Lodi, to Yosemite, to Fresno and back to O.C. The entire 2 day trip, I saw only (1) Magnum. And it was a V6. Nice to have another Brother on the road!
