Gas Cap Dangling Solution
Ok here it is. I found this online. It is the solution a lot of you were looking for out there. Have not tried it myself. But it seems to be the cheapest and cleanest method.

The cheapest solution is to take the end of the tether out of the hole in the body and insert it in the hole in the fuel door at the lower outer edge away from the body. And then loop the tether over the rubber bumper when you remove the cap. The cap hangs well away from the body. I haven't noticed that pushing on the fuel door leaves fingerprints but I haven't looked that closely.
Hyperbolic,
That is just lame. I know that others like it, but that is my opinion.
Chris USC GA 1,
I will have to try your idea, as I was looking at those Gas Door Holes while filling up (and I have a lot of times to look at it) trying to think of a solution, as it is tiresome to keep that Gas Cap Balanced on top of the Gas Nozzle during refueling. The other option I was thinking of was someone else's idea of using a $1.99 Coffee Cup Holder Hook with 3M Sticky Back Tape and stick it to the inside of the Gas Door for the Tether to hook onto and the Cap would dangle just below the Gas Door and above the Body of the Car.
Thank's for the input guys. Keep it coming! Nothing like learning from other people's mistakes. (along with the many of my own!)

Actually I used the hole in the door and drape the tether over the bottom rubber bumper. It's a very logical solution that costs nothing and it works. The gas cap doesn't touch the side of my car, I use a gas bib to protect the bottom edge of the gas door opening, in case I let the nozzle touch the pain..... and I'm happy.
Now I'm thinking that invisible stuff ,night not stay invisible for very long.

I've got a solution and it's really close to free. Get some velcro, put a one side of the velcro on the edge of the gas cap and the other side on the inside of the door. I've done this and it works great.
I use the door hole thing as well and its a simple and complete solution. Can't say I like any part of the idea of putting plastic crap on top of my black metallic-flake paint. Maybe its great stuff and no one will know, but I wouldn't bet any amount of money on it.
Things must be different in the States. Here in Canada, most (if not all) gas stations have their pump nozzles modified so you have to hold them (to keep the gas flow going). This is in case the nozzle slips out, it won't spray gas all over the place.
Because of this, I simply hold the gas cap in one hand while squeezing the nozzle with the other (man....that sounds funny!!!).
Pretty simply solution involving no mods, and no extra troubles.

Free, looks good, and easy........I just popped the plastic tether off. I just hold the cap, put it on the tire or pump. I wouldnt want a piece of plastic stuck on the side of the body myself.
Stripped Hemi,
Be sure to post the first time you drive off without your Gas Cap. [sm=alcoholic.gif] That is the only thing keeping me from disconnecting mine. I will experiment with Chris USC GA 01's idea this weekend to see if I can come up with a satisfactory fix.
