I'd like to add an 8 Ball shifter **** for my 5 speed R/T tranny.
Has anyone done this?
If so I have a couple of questions;
1. Whats the thread size?
2. How do you get the stock shift **** off?
3. Know a good source for the 8 Ball **** (preferably a real ball threaded not insert)?

Try Flameball.com...they've got a number of neat replacements for shifters.

 

AJ, You want one with the insert. A real 8 ball, threaded will not take the abuse of a shifter.

 

Thanks, I meant I didn't want the sloppy nylon inserts.

Let us know how the stock shifter **** comes off. I'd like to change mine. I've got an old Hurst shifter that I'd like to use the handle on my Magnum but I've been leery of removing the stock handle.

 

It just unscrews. The threads are super small like 8mm if I remember right. I put on an after market shifter and it looked like crap with the pencil thick shaft. So I went back to stock.

 

I added a Momo airleather ball shifter and like it a lot. The grey leather and brushed alloy goes perfect with the interior. Still, I think down the road I'll find myself a nice chrome skull to go with my lighted skulls on the plate frame and the skull door locks (both from Mooneyes).

 

The skull shift **** with lighted eyes is the aftermarket one that I put on. There wasnt an insert to fit the small shaft of the shifter. It looked ok from the front seats, but when I took a pic of the stereo install, it looked like crap. So it had to go. I was going with the skull theme too, the g/f's son called the Magnum a "SpaceAge Hearst". I have the silver mag. If I ever get the $$$ thinking of doing a couple of black viper style stripes with phantom skulls.

That is the only reason I didn't get a Black one, because my wife and daughter thought it looked like a Hearse. So I got a Mineral Gray one. Less Hearse looking, I guess.
