Default How to Buy a Used Magum Wagon

Hi, I'm considering purchasing a used Magnum Wagon. Not sure about which one yet, but likely the more fuel-efficient SE or SXT RWD or SXT AWD.

What are the common issues I should watch out for?

Thanks!

Being a FOUR MAGNUM owner; here is what I'd look for.

IMO stay away from all 2.7 V6's ~ way under powered and honestly NOT all that great on gas. IF you are looking at a magnum for MILEAGE, you're WAY off base; NONE are really that good on gas; after all they are around 4,200 lb car. IF you get a 3.5L V6, these required 89 Octane same as the 5.7L hemis. AND... our hemis get around the same mileage as the 3.5L. Also would HIGHLY recommend you get the 5 speed transmission made by Mecerdes.
We had to replace our 4 speed trans at 17,100 miles for slipping.

IMHO, IF you want a Magnum ~ (and we love ALL FOUR of ours; wouldn't get rid of any of them), I'd honestly highly recommend the 5.7 Liter Hemi R/T. You'll love the ride, the power the look and all the ammenities that come with the RT package.

We bought THREE of our FOUR magnums off Craigs list.

Here is a picture of ALL FOUR OF OURS!!!

There ARE THREE know problems that I know of with these cars:
1. Front end issues; be sure to check out for wear of these items
2. Transmission "O" rings leaks ~ most have had this already repaired
3. The transmission luck out (called the pinky thing), when you step on the brake to remove from park, this is spring loaded and hooked to a PINK plastic thing in the shifter console and it sometimes breaks.

Other than these THREE things; NO major incidents I know of.
(Again the 4 speed transmission is NOT the best!)
