paint to match inside headlight
hows yer headlight cookin' goin', evil twin?
Mine's not goin' so well. I htink the glue is more heat resistant than the black plastic.
I probably should have used a heat gun instead.
I have the house all smell, a few good burns on my hands and no soft glue as of yet.

p.s. Grin....we're pull'n for ya.
man, it just aint happnin that way. I didn't think it was glue before and now I know it's not. It's an epoxy and the plastic would melt long before it would ever let go.
I'm gonna revert back to my original plan of cuttin the lens away then using a clear epoxy to seal it back on.

Ive been in the body business since the 60s. I have owned my own for about 25 years. I bought SXT ones for mine, sold the silver ones on Ebay. I dont know anyone thats successfully removed the lens without damage. If you have kudos to you, your braver than I am.
The glue won't melt. I have felt like quite a tool cookin' these bad boys in the freakin oven at home. Tried a heat gun too. No dice. The plastic will soften before the glue on these will.
I'm gonna use a die grinder to cut off the lens then a clear epoxy to try to reseal it. We'll see how much luck I have.

I would be wary of one thing though....
I stopped by my dealer last week to price out some black SXT lights for my black R/T and while the parts man was looking up the lights he noticed a warning on the parts list. Something to the effect of "Caution: Lights even when new can develop condensation inside"
I would think that even if factory fresh sets can let in moisture that you are running a much higher risk by opening them up and re-sealing them.
Great odea though, and if you do it, this might prompt more of us lazy SOB's to do it as well!

When you order new ones they will come with bulbs installed. Be sure to leave them there. When their assembled at the factory, its in a low humidity room and the seal around the bulb will keep them from fogging up. If you ever replace the bulb, do it where the light is hot already, or humidity if very low and you shouldnt have a problem. Ive seen bulbs replaced when its very humid and raining outside and the insides of the lens will cloud up.
