Want a magnum, but have a few ques.
I want to purchase a Magnum, soon. Went and test drove an 06 RT Hemi RWD yesterday and loved it. I want a black R/T Hemi, with dark gray int., with a sunroof and convenience 2 pkg, that's it. However, I have some questions, and I think you guys can help.
First, I live in Maryland, close to D.C. I want the AWD for the snow, but I was told that I don't really need it due to the VSC and the 50/50 weight distribution. Anyone with RWD let me know please how it handled in the snow.
Second, I was wondering about aftermarket headers and exhaust, because I want mine to sound like a thunderstorm.
Last but not least, I want to totally redo the sound system, I was thinking of an Alpine IVA-D310 in-dash flip up, to start with, I'll worry about the speakers and amps later.

Headers and exhaust are awesome! I have flowmaster 40's and they sound mean. Headers give it a little extra throaty sound.
As for the stereo - On the Magnums all the controls and amp work through the CAN-bus. This means that if you put in an aftermarket system you loose the steering wheel controls and aplifier signals. There are supposed to be adapters for the steering wheel stuff but I have not found them in production anywhere yet.

I drive RWD RT for a demo. If you uses some good winter tires and SHUT OFF THAT NANNY TRACTION CONTROL you will be fine. Remember the old days when we didn't have FWD/AWD? AWD is going to cost you some weight and some speed.
Magnum Man,
There is a Video on this forun, early on, that shows DC testing the Magnum's and 300's in the snow at a track, with other comparable cars. Oh wait, my bad, there are no comparable cars... But check it out... It may make your decision for you!
So, I have one question for you, what are you waiting for? Order one today!

In Feb when I got my Magnum RT AWD, I took it out where the tanks play (Grafenwoehr Germany) and got it off the pavement in 8 inches of snow, smooth surface underneath. I could not get it to slide, it tracked like it was on rails. I love AWD cars, this is my third (other 2 were/are Passats).
