Reb,
Nice meeting you. I am chris. I would take a pic of the amps underneath to show you but I am afraid of taking the top off and not getting it back on. They said it could come off. But I am not one to take the chance and mess up their work. I do know though that my amps are 1. flat and 2. pretty much touching the plexy glass but have fans on them. So the space is really tight. The cutouts then sit ontop of the plexi. Good luck. My covers will be in next week. Hopefully they will work and look good. Similar to yours in that they are silver looking but instead of having the gap in the middle they connect. Hard to explain with out showing. I will post pics ASAP.

Just make sure that the cutouts have atleast a layover of felt on the bottom. Otherwise you are going to be scratching the plexi. Trust me on this, this is why I am redoing my setup. About the lighting, is it shining from the side of the plexi? A pic of it in the dark lit up would be great. Have fun!

Ok here are the pics for the neon. I looked and it will be hard to see, but the neon runs parallel to the amps about 1 inch away on each side. as far as if it is shining directly into the side of the plexi, i don't think so. It looked like it was below plexi level even with the amps. There is no felt on the bottom of the cut outs but there is on the sides and top. The bottom was coated with something to make it smooth.

here is a pic looking under to the right hard to see the neon

here is the left side, on the right hand side of the pic there above the amp is the fan. you can see it sort of blurry cause it is spinning.

Great pics. Ok i got how they mounted the lights. If I were you I would go to wallmart or somewhere and get the stickon felt. It is thin enough that it wont make it stick up any farther for the flush look. The plexi is easily scratched, or the vibrations over time will have the coating give it rubmarks. The slightest amount dirt or dust inbetween the plexi and the covers will dull the plexi. The design they have there is not hard to replace the plexi if it does.

Well after more thought, I decided just to keep the currrent design. And Chris's neon setup "forced" me to finish mine off. One good idea deserves another. I used a car buffer with carnuba wax and got the scratches out to my amazement. Finally finished the amp cover. Did the fans in push/pull setup and added the blue LED bar. Pics are of the LED and fan wiring shot from the back seat looking forward. You can see the fans and the LEDs. When viewed from the back nothing can be seen other than the shine of the LEDS. I still have the plexiglass not installed. Still daylight here and no garage, so for right now this is the only pic I can do until it gets dark. I got the power from the ONLY switched fuse in the rear it seems. I used a fuse tapper from Radio Shack and tapped into the cigarette lighter/front power outler fuse. Since I don't use the lighter and use it only for the headunit switched power, fans and LED strip the 20amp fuse will handle the draw.

Reb,
Looks good. I don't blame you on redoing it all. It is alot of work plus all the work you already put in it. I like what you did though. Should work and be functional. I will look for the stick on felt somewhere. Till then it will have to do. Would be nice to see others take the same approach as us but modify it. See if we can start a trend....lol.

Your set ups are real nice. Can't wait to see Reb's setup once I get up to Omaha. I wish I had the money for a setup like that. I have three cars I'm modding. I have a 04 Mazda3 with full racing exhaust, 18" wheels, CAI, and many other mods. A 03 G35 coupe with after market exhaust. The magnum with 20's. I'm looking to do zoomers exhaust some time this year.

Hahaha that what happens when you have the need for speed! I guess my need for speed has slowed down. As a fast addup I did everything for , damn $1100. Wow this has added up fast. I just started with a sony head and MP3 10 disk changer haha. It is addictive. I am waiting for a sale around here for an Alpine in-dash DVD unit for around $500, or find someone selling a used on. And of course Alpine now has come out with a CD player that does DVD with a video out on it. Damn them, If they woul dhave done it 6 months earlier.

Ok I got my grills in today. I will get some pics up after vacation. I also built a box out of 1X4 to fit over the two subs so they can still play and be protected. for the top I used the old floor three piece item that came with the car since i wasn't using it. I just took out the middle piece and used that.
