Electronic Throttle Control light
Driving back home with my wife and kids on our 05 magnum se, I noticed the car started idling somewhat rough at a red light and than the car died, the ETC light came on and was flashing, I tried to re-start the car but no luck, all it did was flash the ETC light but the check engine light didn't come on, I finally got it to start after completely turning the key to the off position, than the car did it again when we got closer to home and the same deal, does anyone know what could be causing this? So far since I bought the car we've spend a lot of money getting other issues fixed so our savings is pretty much gone, so we don't have a lot of money
I want to say you need a PCM, but I've heard some people needed a Throttle Body instead. Hard to say without doing more diagnostic in person.
Timing Chain, Water pump, Cat converter, They usually start to wears out around around 100k, regardless of what car you buy.
I know check engine is not ON, but there should be still codes in PCM. Try swing by Autozone for a free scan, and see if you can get a stored Code out of it.
otherwise, you might have to hit the dealership.

First code for 2098 is system lean, you can ignore that for now.
2nd code is 061A, throttle position fault. Cause could be either a PCM re-flash(think there is a recall for it), or PCM replacement. You'll need to Hit the dealership. It will get worse, Car might die out on the road randomly.

Sorry for the late reply steak59, being in the military doesn't leave much time to do much, so this is what the dealership did, they didn't find anything wrong with the electronic throttle control nor the the PCM, instead they found that some sensor for the steering was bad and the clock spring was broken ( I asked them to save all the old parts for me) so they changed that and the car started running again, the dealership guy said that the clock spring had broken and damaged the sensor so the car was thinking that it was trying to accelerate and brake at the same time, didn't make much sense to me, now the car runs idles really rough and they think that I might need a valve job( estimated at $2,200 which I can't afford at the moment) a busy of mine thinks that it could just be carbon buildup in the engine, any ideas? Anyone?
