Default Windshield pitting

Well, it's been nine months now and, while the love affair is still 'flaming hot', I've noticed that the windshield seems to be wearing poorly. Looks like there are tiny marks IN the glass. Yeah, IN it. Thats in addition to what seems like a world record number of stones that have bounced of it. (Must have 4 nicks CLEAR to the bare metal and several BIG chunks outa the windshield from stones, ALWAYS while driving on the freeway.) Anyway, has anyone else noticed tiny marks inside the glass?

I've noticed it's a very soft windshield. I have one star I filled in and two pits. All in the last 4 months or so.
I figure this windshield may have a year left on it. Perhaps a replecement will be of better quality.

I had a star repaired, but it must have not taken. It spread during the winter. Had the windshield replaced. One good thing about it is that it came with the tint at the top(like it should have from the factory IMO. The replacement is holding up pretty good. A few lil nicks. I did notice that there is an angle to the glass at the top. I cant remember if the factory had it or not.

Wow..I'm from the same area of the country as you two and don't have a single pit in my glass. I've had it since January and have over 10,000 miles on it.

Quit tailgating, lol. You got the power....move to the head of the line and no more chips. I havent noticed many in my first year, but i had a slight delamination appearing at one top corner and my dealer replaced it free under warranty last week. Glass carries a one year replacement warranty my dealer says.

I know this is going to sound stupid but here is what I am doing now. My first month or so after break in on my 05 RT magnum, I was really cruising on my commute home, say 75-80 mph the whole way (40 miles). That month I got all kinds of pits and paint chips from rocks and stuff. The last month or so, I have been doing experiments with cruise control and speed reduction. The last week or so I have kept it at 65 and my mpg has rocketed up into the 20's over a full tank and if I just monitor the mileage on the freeway portions it runs around 24mpg. This is a great improvement from the fast commuting and is saving me a lot of money, not only in gas but possibly windshield replacement.
