Welcome to the forum Rusty. Hang tight, we have a few dodge techs here (not on all the time though so be patient) that will be able to answer you question.

Is everything else working on the cluster that you can tell?

Tach is bussed in from PCM. Likely the tach is dead. Thats about all I can tell you without having the car in front of me. Is it inop, or is the needle on the backside of the stop pin?

the needle is resting on the stop pin normally. it doesnt move at all when i start the car. so if the tach is dead would that mean the whole gauge cluster needs replaced or cant the tach just be replaced? and if so is the dealer the only option besides maybe salvage yard? possible cost of everything if buying new? thank you TNtech!

Well, the Cluster is the Body Computer so there could be configuration issues if you go salvage. You almost never see the car they come out of so you don't know if they are telling you the truth and just want to sell you a cluster, plus I would be worried about exposure to the elements.

The only way to know for sure about cluster/tach is actuate it on the scan tool. I don't think they sell individual parts for them anymore, they are exchange remans....yes they are expensive! $700-$1100.

well if i did go salvage yard i would pull it myself. i never let the yard pull parts for me and well the dealer here said they might be able to hook in their scanner and try that but thats still $72 just to hook it up.
