Default Questions about an SE 2.7 magnum

I guess this isn't a popular motor in the magnum, because I'm having trouble finding info in the forum archives.

I was wondering if anyone can give me some feedback on the the SE trim level with the 2.7 as late next year I will have a chance to purchase a used 04 magnum SE well below market value. (chucking a few more bucks for a hemi equipped or the 3.5 is not an option, wife says my trans am is the toy!)

anyways if some people can provide me some info I'd appreciate it!

cheers,

lbrowne

i was also unable to afford the bigger motors and have the 2.7, it is not a rubber burning, smoke churning beast, but it moves the car decently, gas mileage isn't bad but is probably better on the 3.5. The 2.7 has to work pretty hard in the city, but out on the interstate runs great and with ease. the interior isn't has fancy has the sxt or rt, but the minumum is still pretty nice, power seat, cruise, power windows, remote locks, all the things that are expected in todays market.

so my verdict is the se is a great car, a little sluggish, but wrap that motor up and it will move, and remeber it is still the hottest looking car on the road.

Is there any mods that can be done to get a little bit more omph to the car? Or is everything geared for the 3.5 and hemi...

the only perfomance mods i have seen are a cai, and "chip", altough the chips i have seen are just a resitor to replace one of the sensors

i have custom exhaust on mine, put that is more about apperance than performance

Sorry, but I can't see why they make a 2.7, too small of an engine in my book.

I couldn't afford the RT I bought, but I did buy it, now in debt for 5 years.

Loving it all they way..........................

Well this is a case where I know someone who has this car for work, at the end of a term he has an option to buy it for well below market value. Yes I would rather have the hemi - but thats not what he got and would sell for considerably more.

The TA is my toy - I just needed to know if there had been any issues with the 2.7 and tranny, etc.

i had a rental magnum for a bit, on a trip to detroit, and it had a 2.7...we beat the **** out of that car for about a week donuts...."drifting"..it stood up very nicely to it,but honestly, it could have had more power. iw as really pleased with it other than the lack of power.

i had a 2.7 in my concorde and it ran great for a 70 thousand miles, then quit, probably because i shortened the car about 3 feet

I wouldn't even consider owning a magnum w/anything less than the 3.5L.
