Default 2007 SXT Using Oil

Hi. My wife's 2007 SXT (3.5L engine, 108,000 km.) is using oil.

There are no leaks, and no blue smoke in the exhaust.

After 4,700km (2,800 miles), it was just below the Add line on the dipstick.

I added 1 litre which brought it up to full. Two weeks later, it was down to the Add line again.

I changed the PCV valve in July 2011.

I will be changing the oil this week, and give it 4 - 6 weeks to see if it's reading low again.

Is this normal for this engine? Is anyone else having this problem?

Thank you,

Gord

The 3.5L engine is known to use oil. Not uncommon to use 1qt. a month according to Chysler

Yep. If you want to find it, just look in your intake. My sxt was always carboned up. Install a catch can if you don't have one.
