tinting
Georgia reinstated their tint laws back in May, after I had already done the matching tint on the driver and passenger door. I decided not to strip it, mostly because there are so many Rice Burners with fart can mufflers in the Atlanta area, I figured the man has his hands full and enjoys busting these guys instead. I asked a local cop about mine, and he said while it is technically not to specs, they would not pull me over for it, but if I were pulled over for another violation, expect to get written up for the tint too.
IF you read the laws, then you might have noticed this line.....
This subdivision does not apply to glazing materials which:
(a) have not been modified since the original installation,
nor to original replacement windows and windshields, that were
originally installed or replaced in conformance with Federal
Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 205;
From what I've been able to locate.....so long as the car wasnt modified from original installation......you should be good to go....however....I would still talk with local police in regards to it. My interpretation of this law could be incorrect...however I think I may be partially right.

I know there are different laws for different states....and thats the kicker. My 01 Dakota had darker tint then was allowed for the state of Indiana....yet I never once got pulled over.

I never said there were different laws for different vehicles.....I SAID THERE WERE DIFFERENT LAWS FOR DIFFERENT STATES.....I also never said it WASNT ILLEGAL......instead of arguing what's wrong with my post....why dont you try and help...
Also, there ARE in fact different rules regarding different vehicles. Certain vehicles because of their nature, vans, trucks, limos are subject to different rules/requirements. These all vary of course with each individual state....
You need to find out where the Magnum sits in your state. I've heard it's being listed as an SUV I've also heard it's being listed as a Truck and a Car. Depending on how its "qualified" by your state....then it will dictate how the tint on your vehicle applies.....

And the fact that tinting has come up many times on this forum, and I have done my research.
And what's with the caps, and saying I am trying to argue? I don't know where you are getting that from. I am not trying to start something, reject. I am not not trying to find something wrong with your post. I am stating my opinion about a personal experience. I was stating something in my personal life, that did pertain to the thread. Take notice to the title, "tinting".
I don't know why you are targeting me for trying to argue and not helping. Stop trying to make me look bad.
The original post, the guy was asking what the percentage's of tint were and what the actual laws were. I replied to that. There are loopholes and different rules regarding factory tinted windows and the application of tint on car/truck windows.
He wasnt referring to his front windows, as I am talking about the original post. Since I cant speak for what the Magnum is classed at by your state....I cant tell you whether your tint it legal/illegal. However, if your Magnum qualifies as van or SUV/Truck.....then that changes. Also, provided your car was tinted that way from the dealership, according to what I can find in the laws....then your car is legal.
Front windows were never in this discussion..at least the area of discussion I was involved in. Rear windows on trucks/vans and side windows on vans are also included in the limo area as well. It varies with each state.....so what goes in one state doesnt mean it will in another.
Again, check with the people in your state.

I never said he was referring to front windows. I was replying to your statement. And I didn't say it was the same in all states.
Either way, you obviously just don't want to hear what I have to say here, or anytime for that matter. I won't supply my knowledge on this subject, if I am going to be rediculed for it, from someone who is not even asking the question. Getting personal doesn't help the person who is asking for advice. I was trying to be helpful in a polite manner. Then you go all caps on me. So I guess I'll just keep what I know, to myself, because you'll probably find some way to say I'm wrong.
For my last comment on this subject. Unless it's a state vehicle, law enforcment vehicle, or cargo van, all limo tint laws apply the same for the rest of the vehicles, in the individual states.

Rear windows on trucks/vans and side windows on vans are subject to slightly different rules regarding tint. The whole limo comment was basically to imply that like the limo, they fall under different rules. To further clarify.................
This subdivision does not apply to glazing materials which:
(a) have not been modified since the original installation,
nor to original replacement windows and windshields, that were
originally installed or replaced in conformance with Federal
Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 205;
(b) are required to satisfy prescription or medical needs
of the driver of the vehicle or a passenger if the driver or
passenger is in possession of the prescription or a physician's
statement of medical need; or
(c) are applied to:
(1) the rear windows of a pickup truck as defined in
section 168.011, subdivision 29;
(2) the rear windows or the side windows on either side
behind the driver's seat of a van as defined in section 168.011,
subdivision 28;
(3) the side and rear windows of a vehicle used to
transport human remains by a funeral establishment holding a
permit under section 149.08; or
(4) the side and rear windows of a limousine as defined in
section 168.011, subdivision 35.
However, Chase was right in that all limo tinting does fall under the same rules regardless of the vehicle.
