Default Question about headlight swap.

I'm trying to find out what size hex is required for the bottom bolt on the headlights to remove them. I sent grin a pm but I figured I would post this question in case he doesn't get the message. I finally got someone to swap me a set of SXT lights for my RT units. Any information on the install/deinstall would be greatly appreciated.

I don't remeber what size it is. I just used what fit, man. I imagine a phillips head would work with it. I diodn't try as I had some hex bits on hand.

The bolt is 5/16" or 8mm. I used a lil masking tape to hold the bolt to the socket when I was reinstalling. I sure didnt want to hear the dreaded clink clink. Pretty straight forward. 6 Plastic clips that hold the front fascia to the front raditor support. Flatblade screwdriver to put in the slot on the clip and then pull up. One bolt on top, then the bolt on the bottom. Use a towel to prevent marring the paint of the front bumper cover. The third attachment point is a ball pivot point that is snapped in. After taking the 2 bolts out, pull straight forward until it snaps out. It takes a lil effort. Now the fun part is to get the headlight out by moving the fornt fascia around. I had to push it down and the light came out. It is pretty resiliant(sp) but dont go nuts on the plastic. The low beam socket has a red tab on the connector. You have to pull it up so that it disengages, dont pull too hard, I sent mine flying about 10 feet on the first light. The other 2 connectors are a breeze. Install is just reverse steps. Too me about 20 min, 5 of witch was looking for the red lock.

Thanks for the tips. I used double sided tape in the socket, only dropped one screw, but it was while taking the lights off so I managed to save some time by reaching in and retrieving the screw. Took me about 20 minutes also because I had a hard time removing the lights without scratching the facia. The look is totally different now with the SXT units installed. I really liked the chrome lights it was just too much bling for my taste. I'll take some pics this evening and post after she has a bath.

It only takes about 30 mins to remove the front facia completely, but you will have to replace the 6 rivets that hold it to the wheel well liners. I used clips w/ screws. The 2 headlite screws are either 8mm or 10mm, I forget.
