Default Random Engine Hesitation (2005 R/T)

I am the proud new owner of a 2005 Magnum R/T 5.7 Hemi - I must say, I love this vehicle.

Just last week as I was speeding up to overtake another vehicle on the highway (at about 65mph) the vehicle jerked vigorously. After this, the ESP/BAS Light came on, the engine light started flashing and beeping, and I couldn't go past 80mph (or above 4000 RPM). Shortly after this, I experienced vigorous shaking when driving. I had a mechanic friend take a look and he said it seemed like a misfire. So I popped the hood and found sparks coming from the bolt that holds one of the coil packs. I replaced that coil pack and reset the codes and the problem seemed to go away. At least, so I thought.

Just this evening as I was driving home the same thing happened. I was trying to overtake somebody on the highway, as I revved the engine to pass I noticed an abrupt hesitation - but this time I eased up on the throttle and the engine light only flashed once then remained steady.

Since I don't have an OBDII scanner, I used the "ACC/ON, ACC/ON, ACC/ON" function to get the engine fault code - and P0420 was the only one displayed.

Does this mean my Cat Converter needs replacing?
