Question HELP!! I can't get my 06 MagnumSXT Going!!

Ok.. I just purchased a 06 Dodge Magnum SXT from my brother w/ only 87,000 miles on it. But the problem is that the car barely turns over, and when it does it only runs for a few seconds and then stalls. The check engine light as well as the lightning bolt between ) ( is flashing. The battery is also dying on it so I have to get a jump every time I have something done to the car. 1st took it to my a recommended mechanic and he told me that the "computer" PCM needed to be reset, or "flashed' so I got the car towed to the dealer to have the work done. The dealer supposedly flashed the PCM but the same problems still persist, so I had them do a diagnostic. Afterwards, they told me that I needed a new PCM, Tipm, & a Throttle Body Assembly. Parts along with labor totaled $2,200 dollars so I ended up just paying for the Dianostic/PCM flash and got the car towed back to my house. I then got my mechanic to look @ the car and he went to the Tipm and noticed that one of the connectors for the Front Control Module was damaged so he disconnected it and the car started right up, but it stalled within 2-3 seconds afterwards. He told me that I needed a new FCM but I'm not sure if he's right so I was looking for a 2nd opinion to prevent me from buying something that I don't actual don't need. I've also been told that it could be a problem with the security on my car and that it may need to be reset due to my battery dying. So, does anybody have any idea of what the problem could be with my car?

Update: Ok, I went and bought a new battery & had it installed. Then I was able to finally pull codes by doing the "key dance" and 2 came up. P0688, & P2101. I know that the 2101 code is a thrttle body issue so I got mines cleaned 1st to see if I'll help but it's still cutting off on me plus the code is still coming up, so I've ordered another one. Now as far as the 0688 code I know its the ASD relay issue so I bought a new relay and I'm going to install it in the morning due to the fact its raining right now.. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens..

How much did you het the car for? Hopefully a good price where the money that you have to put in to it will offset.

Most of the time the problem is the PCM when it comes to those code. And unfortunately, there isn't really any way to diagnose this except throw a new part at it.
Ur dealer is quoting you all of above because of the same reason. Normally if I get a car like this, I would find another charger and start swaping out the Throttle body and TIPM.
There are reputation company that sells reman PCM, preprogramed to ur VIN, plug and play for like $300, just google them.
Throttle body wise, just hit a Salvage yard and pick one up. Due to the fact that there are so many Charger/Magnum, I am sure you can find one for cheap.

As a side note to this thread.... NO FLASH (software update) has ever, nor will ever make a car run that does not already run or make a transmission shift that does not already shift. The independents will many times send you to the dealer for this. I have argued this with so many people who are hell-bent on throwing their money at something that won't fix it. All because "some guy" told them it would. They're always disappointed afterwards and even sometimes get mad at us.

Oh ok... I actually got a Throttle body assembly yesterday from a salvage yard, and I'm waiting for my mechanic to get here to put it on as we speak, but I have a question. What's the difference between the TIPM, PCM, IPM??? I attempted to replace the ASD relay, but when I put the new one on, the car still had the same problem & codes. And thanks for you advice!!!! I truly appreciate it!

Wow, I wish you were in my area, because you seem to be very knowledgeable, and you could've received the $345 that I had to fork over to the dealer for their alleged "flashing" & diagnostic!! SMH! Thanks for your insight, and it's truly appreciated!

where do you live?
PCM is the engine controller, it controls the throttle body and the ASD relay.
TIPM is the Fuse Box in front.
FCM is like a body control module, generally it has nothing to do with ur issue.
If throttle body doesnt help, all the fuse and relay checks out good TNtech suggested, you most likely will need a PCM. Or broken wires somewhere in the engine harness
