Default help please po740 code

Driving to work my ride slipped out of overdrive and down a gear. I pulled off got his code which said transmission torque converter circuit open. And now it won't go into rev. Or even be moved in neutral. Help any thoughts on repair? Is it just electrical? 2005 dodge magnum 2.7

For the Code P0740, there is a software update for TCM to fix this issue, I believe.
But normally, that code never throw a car into Limp mode.
I think ur Trans is done... How many miles? and service history on trans?

the person who owned the vehicle before me never once took it into a dodge dealer to have anything done so i have no records on anything. from others that i have talked to the code is for a tranny torque converter clutch solenoid. ive asked how much it was and im looking into getting the part to see if it fixes the issue. the tranny has been looked at since ive owned by a dodge dealer and they said the tranny was fine that was about 2-3 months ago. the only issue i had was a minor oil leak which was fixed. the car has 100,000 miles on it.

The solenoid pack is on top of the valve body. You can give it a try, just pay attention if you find any metal pieces on the trans pan when you remove it.

What bothers me is that normally, the p0740 code would come with a bunch of other codes, especially since you lost reverse as well. you might need a more enhanced scanner to pull all the codes first.
Generic wise, that code would mean TCC solenoid circuit, however, in Dodge's term, it's description is "trans operation out of range", it means your trans is slipping.

yeah it at first said that p0700 and then it gave another code saying something about 4th gear was low or something like that and then it gave the p0740 code and i have changed out the solenoid but in the process of doing so i dropped the ball bearings from the valve body and now im missing 2. so my car is parked in my garage and shes sad. as am i.
