Default Reverse/drive/park issue...

-If this issue has already been discussed I appologize and could you please post a link to the thread.

The car stays parked on an incline and has been "clunking" into reverse., today it was more of a violent "clunk" than usual. The shifter was in the reverse position but the tranny was not engaging in that gear and the digital display on the dash showed that it was still in park. When I put it in drive the transmission engaged into reverse and also showed the same on the dash. When in low it would go into drive and I can't get it to go into park. With the shifter in park it shows that it is reverse. I would like to know if anyone else have run into this problem before I start tearing the shifter console appart. I have read many threads on the issue that people are having with getting it out of park but I think this is diffrent. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated, this is my boss's car and I would like to keep my job! Thanks

KoR32T,

Does this only occur when the vehicle is on an incline or all of the time? Have you been able to get the vehicle diagnosed by a dealer? If you'd like to PM me the VIN# I can review to see if there are any recalls that may be related.

Let me know if there is any assistance I can provide, I look forward to hearing from you.

The 'clunking' issue was only occurring when it was parked on an incline, the reverse/park issue is constant. I do not want to take the vehicle to the dealership, I would rather try and resolve the issue myself first. I was just curious if anyone has had similar problems and could give me some insight before I just go in blindly. I'll pm the vin to you also, thank you by the way.
